legitimate TC's that stay will be assimilated back into the us. The carpet sh@gg3rs and the other illegal settlers, when they leave, will also benefit us. I dont know where you fit into all this but it seems as if you would prefer to be shipped back to Turkey.
Back on topic. Of course, it would benefit Turkey to withdraw from Cyprus. But the current Turkish leadership is stuck in the mentality that they can occupy Cyprus and still enter the EU. They can't see the contradiction. They think they can do both.
That's why they say contradictory things on Cyprus and the EU. One minute they say they still have the EU as a goal, the next minute they say they don't need the EU. One minute they say they want a 'solution' on Cyprus, next minute they say they want recognition of the 'trnc'.
Their heads are in a whirl. It's been that way since they failed with the Annan Plan. They literally don't know what to do next. That's why an ultimatum is good for them.
Hello they are talking options...plus they have known for sometime now thatnks to Germany and France that they will never enter the EU as a full member so they act accordingly, what so wrong with that? Why do everything the EU wants only to be slapped in the face they have learned their lesson during the AP that the EU applies double standards and does not keep her promises.
In turn, why doesn't Turkey admit, in all honesty, that it does not have any intention of withdrawing from Cyprus?
- Perhaps, Turkey is worried that the EU will then get on with the business of removing them.
