In an exclusive interview with this Turkish propaganda rag Jack Straw wants the illegal regime in the north to be recognised if the ROC continues to block Turkey's accession to the EU. It's a good job he is no longer the lightweight Foreign Secretary he once was.

Mr Straw is a well known Turkish arse licker and as such has no credibility. As VP would say, totally biased, one sided and it would not at all surprise me if therewas any financial gain in all this talk.

Does any one know if he has a villa in the 'trnc'? That would not surprise me either.

Poor old Jack Straw has no influence on anything these days and is only wheeled out from semi-retirement by Turkey because they think he still has some credibility. He has none and no-one takes him seriously.

If the old fool really cared about Turkey's EU accession he'd persuade Turkey to withdraw its troops and settlers from Cyprus and implement the Ankara Protocol. As it is, he thinks the fear of 'recognising' the puppet state will force concessions from the RoC thus giving in to Turkey's demands. He clearly has learned nothing from history.

If anybody wants to know what the UK-sponsored Annan Plan was really about you only have to read Straw's Interview. It was about legally partitioning and neutering the Republic of Cyprus on Turkey's terms in order to facilitate Turkey's EU entry. It's there in black and white.

Thankfully Straw's Plan, like Straw himself, has been consigned to the dustbin of history.
