If you retrieve my distant past posts on Straw you will see that they have been consistent. He made a spectacle of himself with Gul on the night that Turkey's accession process was announced. Even Gul's body language shows a reaction to Straw's overt touchy feely gestures.

As to British companies outsourcing, the specialist press in Britain made some poignant comments about loss of jobs, loss of manufacturing quality and the decrease in prestige of British brands once they opted for Turkish manufacture. Their views not mine.

The mystery remains, how a business can claim to be flourishing when most if its clients are getting poorer. I wonder if some day we will hear about Turkish statistics.
