Tough fight ahead to save CY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Tough fight ahead to save CY

Postby Viewpoint » Fri Mar 08, 2013 4:47 pm

THE GOVERNMENT and Cyprus Airways (CY) have a “tough fight ahead” to convince the European Commission of the need to save the national carrier from closure, Communications Minister Tasos Mitsopoulos said yesterday.

Dejavu? or is it the bitch Karma yet again? who was it that ran CTA into the groud a few years back? Kikapooo???

Someone tell VP, who's having trouble understanding, practically everyone in the Free Area, other than CY Air staff, is pissed off with this inefficient, poor service, over-staffed, over-paid, waste of public money airline.

Sorry if people's pragmatism and realism disappoints you VP... but it's over for CY Air without very major changes and most people understand that unless it changes in a BIG, BIG way, it will have to go.

Rubbish, instead of wasting money on the TCs for pensions, free medicals etc they should keep the national carrier going. Shame to close such a fantastic airline by wasting money elsewhere.
It carries the name CYPRUS worldwide!

CY is in only trouble because it uses RR engines. I blame the British Ted Heath Government of the 1970s for rescuing Rolls Royce.

I think the difference is

a. TCs wanted to keep CTA ''alive and running''

b. Most GCs realise that although CA provides a good service ..it is in fact a money pit that needs either totally restructuring under private ownership or shutting down because of the cost to the ROC

just my opinion

Good evening all
