Cyprus Airways is the National Carrier of the legal and ICAO recognised RoC, but CTA was just an illegal airline under the 'authority' of the illegal and non ICAO recognised occupied area of Cyprus. There is a big difference!

I wouldn't call it a screw up. Aviation is a tough business with thin margins at best and many go out of business all the time.

Fortunately, Cyprus Airways will not go out of business and I understand a potential buyer is now circling the airline for a take over.

It will ne restructured and it will continue to fly the flag for Cyprus as its National Carrier!
