Sorry if people's pragmatism and realism disappoints you VP... but it's over for CY Air without very major changes and most people understand that unless it changes in a BIG, BIG way, it will have to go.

Sorry Bill but this is a load of Bollocks!

CY Air is worth saving. It is the RoC's flagship carrier with lots if history and good people working for it. Did you know it was the launch airline for the the IAEV2500 engine?

You are nuts. These are lazy, partydogs that must be kicked in the ass really badly. It will be better for all of us taxpayers.

Mate, I don't have the time to explain how stupid your post is.

The problem with CAir is that it has been used as a gravy train. There are too many employees, a lot of public sector wastage, and it is not an efficient business.

If and when it goes down there will be no airline bearing the name Cyprus or the Flying Mouflon.

Now tell me who is going to employ all those pilots and engineers? What about the cabin crews?

More good Cypriots headed for overseas eh. As long as there are enough peasants like you to grow the Kolokasi and water melons, for my short vacations all is ok.

But that is ok because the only airline the likes of you deserve or can afford is Helios.

They have been given many chances to fix the damage and become a productive company, but obviously they didn't want to do anything.

The past governments were happy to satisfy the employees, while the employees were more than happy to get more money and work less. That's not how a healthy company works.

Now go back talking about Quantas, or something you know about, and leave CY matters to Cypriots.

CY Air has not been given the chance to restructure and become profitable.

For this you can blame the Union and the RoC Government.

Giving a company like this money to fund its operation is not giving it a chance to become profitable. It only has a chance of becoming profitable if the airline is bought out and restructured in a manner the RoC Government and the Unions never allowed in the past.

Kurupet, stick to Kolokasi and water melons. :P

The irony is that sooooo many companies want to get their hands on it; now we have a capitalist in charge it's going to be grabbed by profiteers.

Oh well, so long as it goes from strength to strength. Must be nice to be so desired. 8)

I know there has been lots of talk about a couple of firms' interest in CY but is there any sign yet of anyone making a serious offer for this non-profitable organisation, or is it more like the Nicosia land deal or the old Larnaca terminal lease ?

(and I'd hardly call the recently announced fleet cuts and loss of 490 jobs going from strength to strength...)

Yes everything is going from strength to strength, especially Greece and Cyprus.

Oh and my favorite! It's everyone else's fault (esp. US and UK) except for Greece or Cyprus.

Oh and it must be nice to be so desired!

Never heard of so much shit.
