Britain will only have one significant overseas base soon (after it quits Germany for good) - in Cyprus. With Cyprus in Nato I wonder how long it would be before UK tries to negotiate the handing over of the Cyprus bases to the US to save some more cash. I remember the Americans kicked up a big fuss when Denis Healy tried to give up Cyprus bases in the 1960s. What price would the ROC ask to agree to such a handover?


You have to get our permission.

Dream on, we dont need you for anything. The RoC is the only officially recognised government of cyprus and it can do as it pleases.

Yes quite, in much the same ways as the Republic drilled successfully for gas, marked out CY's EEZ and joined the EU... all with no permission outside the Republic.

yes quite true a "de-facto" partner carrying way, way more punching weight than a full raving looney tunes member...as a turk you should never forget it....
