perhaps it is all tied up already.

Whatever happens, Cyprus wins. Even if Turkey has a veto (which is in question) the international community and especially EU and NATO, will see that it is Turkey and not Cyprus which is disrupting the strategic partnership between the European Union and NATO.

Yes. The EU and NATO want to develop a closer defence strategy which would effectively be blocked by Turkey. This would make Turkey an unreliable partner that is actively disrupting Western defence interests. Not a good place for Turkey to find itself. Now do you see why just applying to join the PFP, Cyprus has put Turkey into a corner?

...i expected you to think about security as a Cypriot, and as a "Turk", but no, quite happy to live in a regime under occupation, as a subject of the Turkish Army, denied and unheard for as long as they want. NATO i would think secures "your" security, what would "you", as a so called TC, give-up?

Saw something here from a TC 'academic' on what Annastasiades' motives are but wasn't sure what it's getting at.
President Anastasiades might bring to the negotiating table a package of proposals that cannot be rejected and try forcing the process of joining NATO as a move against Turkey. He argued that over NATO President Anastasiades will turn the National Guard into a professional army, reduce the military expenses to the minimum level in order to get rid of the existence of the Turkish occupation army and force the Turkish side to reduce its military existence on the island.

...a multinational force such as the one that would be stationed in Cyprus will allow for a training of Turkish troops in NATO where the discipline they'll learn will creep into their own troops. this is a dangerous thing to Leaders who think Armies are for killing. indeed, Greeks, Cypriots, Turks, Brits, and others will work together, in scope larger than the base they call home, terrifying for those who like things just the way they are.

...the Turksish Army has exhausted its welcome, at least for Cypriots who will trade them for another Force.
