Hi All,
A friend of mine is in contact with the Agios Neofytos Monastery Cat Park (Tala Cat Monastery(Paphos)), and she asked me to help her out by posting a yell for help here on the forum.
Please post it on your Facebook, so we can reach as many people as possible to help the lovely cats of Tala!
I suppose most of us know the fantastic concept of the Agios Neofytos Monastery Cat Park, where there is a piece of land made available by the great people at the municipality of Tala for more than a hundred straycats. Everbody can just drive by and stop to pet or feed the cats. It is a fantastic pieceful place, where you can just hang out with the cats. They love your attention.
When you are there on a saturday, you see all kinds of people coming and going who feed and pet the cats.
It is really wunderful to see that a concept like this works. The cats live out in the open, and people who like cats can just go whenever they want to hang out with the cats, for as long as they want.
It is all a lot of work and all is done by volunteers, British and Cypriot very dedicated together.
Since there are a lot of cats to take care off, the Monastery Cats Organisation is very much in need of the following:
- people who can help to feed the cats
- people who can foster cats who have to heal or recover, or are too small to be in the pack yet
- people who have veterinary knowledge and can help take care of the injured or sick cats that are at the Monastery
- people who can help building the fence, so that the cats wont walk on the road nearby
- people who can help keeping the area clean, or can help washing blankets and cushions
- donations of things you dont need anymore, but the cats do very much, such as; an old kennel or pet cage that you have no use for, some garden furniture that you would like to donate to the cats (they love to sunbathe in a good chair!), bedding, cushions, blankets, feeding bowls/plates, leftover tiles, fencing, gardening tools, d.i.y. tools, or other things you think that can be used for taking care of the cats
- maybe you have good D.I.Y. or gardening skills that you can offer to do some maintenance at the Cat Monastery
- maybe you have good organisational skills, and you can help with the monthly fund-raising CatQuiz that is held at the Monastery itself (with a great thanks to the Monastery for that)
- maybe you are a good photographer or great storywriter, and you can help making content for the Facebook pages and the website (http://www.talamonasterycats.com/)
- maybe you are a good marketeer and you can help fundraising or arranging stuff for the cats
- the people of the Cat Monastery have a stall at the duckpond car boot once a month, if you have any unwanted items please consider donating them for the cats to sell and raise money for much needed vet treatments
- you have any other idea for help? contact the Cat Park!
So if you want to do something for the animals of Cyprus that makes a difference, give Dawn a call!
Even if you have only time once a week, or once a month, it really does matter
The great thing about the Cat Park is that you can finally really do something to help the animals in Cyprus, the cats are always there waiting for you to come by.
Just call the contact number here below to discuss with Dawn how you could be of the most help to the cats.
Every bit of help is welcome.
So if you love cats, and have some of your time to offer, please contact the Cat Monastery, the cats will love you for it
If you dont believe that, just go there and see for yourself, the cats are all very lovely and thankful.

To find the cats, just follow the signs for the Agios Neofytos Monastery in Tala and they are situated just 50m before you reach the entrance on the left hand side, look for the large roadside sign with the cute pussy cats on. Just park by the entrance and walk down to the feeding area at the far end next to the huts.
