Moving to Cyprus

Postby sunnydays » Tue Feb 26, 2013 1:47 pm

Hi,

I will be moving to Limassol within the next 6 months for work.
I already have work lined up so that won't be a problem, but I'm starting to look at all of the practicalities of living in Cyprus again.

Luckily I do know a bit about the island, as I lived in Nicosia for 6 months a few years back, but I have never been to Limassol so any local information would be greatly appreciated.

Which are the best rental agents to use? Both for apartments and for long term car hire?
I'm happy to live outside of the town, but I have no idea of the surrounding areas.
How much on average would my monthly bills be? (i'm thinking of a 2 bed apartment as I'm a single lady!)
What is the local expat community like?
Is there any major bonus'd or pitfalls I might of overlooked in my original excitement about moving somewhere warmer?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Best areas around Limassol are on the east and north-east. A decent furnished 2 bed apartment would be 500-750 euro per month for long term. Water maybe €15 per month. Electricity maybe €50-€200 depending on the season. What expat community? British? The only pitfall you should be aware is that there is a crisis now in Cyprus and several unexpected things can happen over the next 1-2 years ... like strikes for example.
