Anastasiades extends a hand to the T/Cs

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Anastasiades extends a hand to the T/Cs

Postby Demonax » Mon Feb 25, 2013 1:40 am

Our new President extends a hand to the TCs and stresses the EU dimensions of a solution. :D

Short after his victory, Anastasiades has extended an olive branch to Turkish Cypriots. “What interests us is a solution that will not only be accepted by Greeks, but of course by Turkish Cypriots as well, particularly a solution that creates the expectation of development,” he said.

Anastasiades vowed for a solution that combined the European Union. “I am addressing the Turkish Cypriot citizens. I want to express my intention for an European solution that will lead us to peace, fraternity and a modern nation, respectful of the human rights of every citizen and that will create expectations of progress and welfare. We want a country undiscriminating and multicultural. In this effort to end an unacceptable situation with regards to the EU and international community, I am sure that we will have the backing of all our friends. A new stage starts today for Cyprus.”

Yes and let's hope that the CYs on the wrong side of the cease-fire line also extend a hand to the new Pres... cos so far that has been sadly missing.

Yes, Bill. You'd think they'd respond to the new Pres's warm words about a solution having an EU dimension, about living in a modern multicultural European state with all citizen's rights guaranteed by the EU. But not a peep out of them. I wonder why.

Never a peep out of them... other than the usual pollocks about 1863 and eoga and made up as they go along and non-existent "community rights" (whatever they are).

... but it's even worse that that file... a few are already saying that the broad brush-strokes settlement that New Pres A reaches out to them with, one that is based on the sort of Principles that the EU stand for and on Human Rights (as per the ECHR articles), isn't acceptable...!!!

But the TCs don't want "equal human rights". Hasn't that been the problem all along? Their expectations are for MORE - much more than mere "equality".

Still, the olive branch has been extended, once again. A least, it will demonstrate to the EU what we are up against ...

Well the man and CY have other priorities.

A truism >>> For the first time in decades CyProb isn't at the top of the Presidential list.

Hear that he won't be figure-heading the Republic at the talks, preferring to appoint a senior Minister to take his place...???

...oh goody, a President who will take the interests of Cyprus first. he will not be sullied with the effort of defending "Greeks" as the Leader of the Republic because the other side of the table is no more than "Turks".
