they can start their own thread like " The news from the UK for the home sick Brits" but then this is Cyprus Forum and no doubt those who will be interested in such matters will be posting/looking on English fora or news sites...

This is in response to yialousa's thread no doubt.
It's a classic example of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Problem is, you folks are bashing the same countries you live in.
Makes no sense.

Well....

It isn't really bashing, it is discussing...

What GIG and others fail to realise is that I live in Cyprus and all my assets are here...

It is not in my interest if Cyprus defaults, leaves the €uro or borrows billions from the ECB.

But, these are the hard economic facts of the time and there is nothing I can do about it. And posting about it will not lead the rest of the world to see Cyprus in a worse way than they already do.

I have very strong views on the €uro and the EU in general. I don't think Cyprus should ever have joined and I believe it will ultimately be a disaster for the country and its citizens - like Greece.

Hooray!

At last sensible posts regarding Cyprus's economic problems, I'm surprised it's not been discussed in huge depth on here before.

It's on the news here, in broadsheets and all over the net, yet you come onto the forums and zilch .....

Good thread STUD and agree with Grumps post, what's important in my opinion is a better leader who will lead Cyprus thru the rain. Is that person the one who will get voted in today?

Also what happens to developer loans, much mention of Greek debts but a supposed 6billion euro debt from developers isn't about to be repaid soon, what will the banks who lent crazily here do about that?

Exactly!

But we are always accused (when making such posts) of showing Cyprus in a bad light and changing world opinion of us - as if economists the world over are going to stumble in here one day and say "OMG, Cyprus is in the shit and we didn't know!"

Well that's lucky for you because the Euro is the safest currency!

- As for "news for homesick Cypriots" - you sick money-interested opportunists fail to realise Cypriost are only ultimately interested in ONE piece of news:

"Turkish Troops and Settlers Withdrawn from Cyprus!"
