Here is a scenario for you. What if the two top candidates are suspected of being Turk agents.. Would the second round elections still take place? Is there a mechanism for writing in a candidate for the second round or would Cypriots have to choose between two suspected Turk agents?

Well, this past year a president of Cyprus was negligent to the point of being a criminal in the loss of 13 lives, there was not one thing in the constitution of Cyprus that could of tried him or impeach mr.Shistofias..why not have the choice of a write in candidate in the second round and the ability to impeach...

You base your entire argument on a conspiracy theory. The problem with conspiracy theories is that they never end up being regarded as truth unless the people behind them have enough money to make them true.

Where do u see a conspiracy theory, when Shistofias neglected warnings about those trailers and then denied knowing...blah blah blah. There should have an impeachment...of that midget!! But thecyprus constitution doesn't have that...what if tomorrow ananstasiades sells cyprus down the river ..what then? And no way to get him out...

Whatever will happen to Cyprus with Merkelstasiades is happening to Spain with Rajoy (another Merkel boy).

To sum it up, a shitton of unemployment, strikes, nepotism and unfairness.

In fact the similarities between Anastasiades and Rajoy will prove to be disgustingly abundant.

Both of them got elected because the people didn't want to vote for a candidate of the same party who shat on their country's economy (Zapatero/Christofias). Both of them based their election campaign on accusing the previous government of destroying their country and making big promises.

I simply estimate that Anastasiades will follow Rajoy's footsteps and further put his people in debt to save banks and other private corporations.

He will blindly allow the exercise of nepotism and various scandals will become public just to crush people's confidence a bit more.

There will be thousands in the streets demanding what they used to have.

The only difference is that Cyprus will become even more unlivable than Spain because in Spain (outside Barcelona and Madrid) with just 400 euros a month you can live like a king.

(All the above is merely my speculation on Merkelstasiades.)

How many times has poor Cyprus been 'sold down the river' in our sad and sorry history? :(
