How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Yeah, as if albanians, macedonians, bulgarians and turks are lying about greek oppression. Tell me which is the most friendly neighbour greece has?

And please stop exaggerating the oppression of the ottoman empire, in fact the greeks were quite priviliged compared to the bulgarian status in the empire.

You should read some bulgarian book about the byzantine yoke to get an idea about what oppression is really like.

Did you know that the ideological home of Rastafarianism is Ethiopia...and that religion also has a strong bond with Orthodoxy, which was brought to Ethiopia by Greeks. I myself have Ethiopian god-brothers.

I am sure you would love this

Modern Greeks descend from subsaharan Ethiopians[/url]

Joking aside, I have some african blood from tunisia. One of my great great grandfather bought my accordingly great grandmother from a slave bazaar in Salonique, after they fell in love.

A Bulgarian,a jamaican and a Cypriot are sitting outside a pig stye.
They decide to have a competition. The one who stays longest in the pigstye will be the winner, and the others will shout him a meal at the best restaurant in town.
The Bulgarian goes in,they time him. 1 minute ...2 minutes...2 and half minutes...bang opens the barndoors and the Bulgarian comes out.
The Jamaican goes in next.1 minute...2 minutes...3 minutes... bang open the barngates and the Jamaican comes out.
The Cypriot goes in next.1 minute...2 minutes...3 minutes...4 minutes...
bang opens the barngates and all the pigs come out...

Main_Source wrote:The reason why I picked the Jamaican flag is because they have a very similar history to Greek Cypriots..and I have many Jamaican friends.

Like GC they also spent hundreds of years under opression of various rulers.

Like GC they also tried to fight off the British to gain freedom.

Like GC they also had to aspire to a form of nationalism when under opression, in order to be strong as a people and fight for there freedom.

This resulted in a movement of recognising their African roots...much like the Greek Cypriots recognising their Greek roots.

The typical 'father figure' of most Jamaicans or black people in the diaspora was Marcus Mosiah Garvey, who was the one who told black people to look to their African roots in order to be strong and strive for freedom. He is also a kind of prophet in the Rastafarian religion and was the one who set up the Orthodox Church in Jamaica...the same form of Christianity we Greek Cypriots practise. Did you also know that Bob Marley was born an Orthodox Christian and and reverted back to Orthodoxy just before his death.

This is why I have the Jamaican flag.

That or source like smoke a spleef every now and then while listening to Bob Marley. But then the question remains of why he isn't a bit more laid back?

lol..smoking a spliff and listening to Bob Marley....is that the Turkish or American fickleness coming out in you 2fan?

LOL Source. No I'm not that fickle but I really thank you for your explanation of your avatar. I'm serious when I say that it is very cool.

Be careful Birkibrisli.I said the same joke about turks in another forum expecting the type of response that i observed in life, when the joke was said in a company of G/C and T/C friends. The T/Cs responded with similar jokes on Greeks and we all had a good lough...Instead i got a storm of protests from some forum members, accusing me of been a racist etc.Simply, some people do not accept jokes,or they lack that very important ability to lough at themselves,or even, they may look for any excuse to bash the other person.
Unfortunately we have not all reached the kind of maturity to be able to lough at ourselves and each other. The truth is, most Cypriots take ourselves too seriously...:)))

Well,Alexios,we will just have to desensitise them all with our jokes. :D
But we have to be careful,I agree. You really shouldn't have made the Turks the butt of it,not if you are a Cypriot.I might get away with it because I am a Cypriot laughing at myself.See what I mean?

Thinking about it afterwards..yes i agree....I got carried away from the previous response in a company of friends...

A Cypriot named Tassos sits next to a stuck-up english gentleman on a flight to Cyprus. After about 20 minutes of flight the Cypriot becomes all edgy since he really wants to talk to someone. So he turns to the english man and says-Helo, my name is Tassos..are you going on holidays?? The english man turns around and gives poor Tassos a nasty look refusing to reply..!! Tassos decides to give him the benefit of the doubt, supposing that the chap is not really well or something..So after about 10 minutes he tries again..Helo...are you going on holidays..? This time the english man puts down his Sunday Times turns to Tassos and says in his posh english..-Look here old chap..My name is Brown...B.R.O.W.N..I am english..I am white from the top of my head to the tip of my toes..and i dont talk to foreighners..!!!! Poor Tassos is shocked!!! He shuts up and crawls up in his seat but his brain is working...So after about 5 minutes, he pokes his finger at the english man,s elbow and as he turns he tells him..-Look here you old bastard...My name is Tassos..T.A.S.S.O.S..I am Cypriot..and i am also white from the top of my head to the tip of my toes..except my arsehole which is brown..B.R.O.W.N......!!!!!

Have you ever heard one of Winston Churchill’s famous quotes that goes something like this.
On seeing he was totally drunk a lady of high standing reprimanded him by saying; “ Sir! If you were my husband I would put poison in your drink”
Churchill replied; “Madame! If you were my wife I would drink it”
Serve it up baby, I’ll be round at eight.

Zan, the only way for you to get poisoned it’s by biting your tongue.

Aaaa, right! Now he's a contradictory figure.... Ok, if you say so....
But on the other hand he knew and he knows very well the puppet state has an expiry date.
