Will this be a game changer?

At the rate Global Warming is going, Cyprus will be getting more rainy days than sunny days in the near future!

you obviouslt dont live in cyprus. but really you are not from this planet.

assuming that cyprus become rain forest in say 10 million years, in the mean time it will gave to go through 10 million years of saharafication. which is a bit like fornication but when she is all dried up when it gets to your age group.

vasaline is the order of the day for all my gc friends with the exception of the decent cypriots. they can have water free.

Can you tell me the last time anyone died of thirst in Cyprus?

Cyprus does not need to turn into a rain forest, but enough rainfall to fill all the dams year round and a good snow cover over the Troodos as a back up supply for the snow-melt runoff.

Much to many peoples ignorance, they think Global Warming is all about the planet drying up in sweltering heat. No it doesn't. It mainly means climate changes in different regions from what has been the norm for a long time.

As for the Vaseline, you are going to need lots of it after what Turkey is going to charge you for a glass of drinking water if this project goes through.

You are absolutely right Kikapu. A few years ago we were so low in water that they were bringing from Greece with ships. Then they built a hell lot of desalination plants that could supply us with water even if we had no rain for years and years. As soon as they completed those plants it started raining! It's two years now that during the winter it rains all day. Our dams today are ALL FULL, 300+ millions of tons of water, they have never been even half full from the times of Makarios!
My garden never had flowers before mid March before, yet it's been one week that I got the first blooms this year! :D :D :D

NB Last year they were afraid that probably the biggest dam would collapse because of this sudden filling up. It was never even half full. Thank god nothing happened.

Oh regarding the dam they build in Turkey-all dams need some time to adjust. So they will never fill it up full before some years have passed. So how the hell they are going to bring water to the occupied by 13 March 2014 I don;t know

We are talking about climatic changes VP.
And at the same time we raise questions about the alleged project.
So far we have not seen not even ONE convincing evidence.

When a student fails miserable on all his exams and at the same time claims he will become a doctor, would you call other people's laughter "jealousy"?

don't worry we will make enough money from selling the water to the south to pay for the project too.

...goes both ways, Lordo. if it is so easy, water can be purchased elsewhere, by pipeline.

...and, don't forget Turkey is paying for this venture, you may be expecting to pay a price based on "Turkishness", but with all the importance everyone seems to be placing on Money, (and pipelines), there are no limitations to the demands Turkey can (will) make.

Game changer?, no; more reason for Cypriots to fight for Freedom from their adversary, whether an Ignorance, "Turk" or "Greek" (or "British" for that matter).
...and now with the island torn, and Turkey's unceasing efforts to take their part, as a possession, enosis may have more meaning for the Greeks and Turks who choose Cyprus first, and who will choose their Cypriot Flag to fly higher, more of the same i'd say, until something like this happens.

...jealousy you say, dustman, yet you who love "north Cyprus" is not worried. i imagine a brash patriot like you would see the danger for your state, or so called, State, when the dustman and your water is privatised by Turkey. only the possibility of selling this water to others, other than "Greeks", secures your Identity, do such plans exist, vp?
