Well, water from Turkey will most certainly arrive on July 20.

... but it won't be water that's being through a floating pipe-line.

It'll be water that's been transferred either in a tanker or towed across in huge water bags.

They'll be bands a-playing, flags a-flying, ribbons a-cutting, pompous speeches etc etc.

No expense will be spared to get a tanker of water to the Occupied Areas on the 20th, in another propaganda stunt.

As to the cost of water in the Free Areas, yes, 10c a tonne is what farmers are charged (and many will have their own boreholes where they can get it for zero with many, many unlicensed wells). Massively subsidised and although it's nice to help out farmers, what sort of farming does it encourage...???

We've all seen huge water sprinklers (think they're called Beckos) running for hours on a baking hot CY summer's day and what are they watering... the most pathetic crops of one inch high clover for cattle feed...!!!

Water management has a long way to go. ... and don't start me off on golf-courses on CY...!!!

So it's going to be what we all suspected right from the start. They are going to fill that dam at Panagra and keep the water reserve for military purposes or other times of emergency.

BillC I agree with your "water management" remarks. Agriculture though is source of primary wealth, I mean whatever is produced circulates by about 48 times in producing the GNP. Compare that with other activities like sales of imported goods that contribute to GNP by only some factor of 1 point something. Countries that produce a lot of primary wealth are doing quite well e.g Norway is more or less a country of fishermen

I was confused with your first post and then your reply to B25 gave me the impression that you was being serious. I thought you was trying to be philosophical and enlightened, with the metaphor of the finger and that you wished that Russia would own the GC's.

Be honest with me, did you read the article to the end because you have to get that far to get that it is a joke. Maybe B25 tuned out earlier than me.
