Is this is going to be competitive and do they want or have to buy it anyway?

For the moment the RoC supplies with water totally free of charge the whole of occupied Nicosia.

Until a few years ago we were begging the TCs to form a committee so that they come and talk with us on how to handle the waters of Karkotis river (which is the only one that flows all year long) Until then we were letting those waters end up to Morfou to enrich the occupied town's aquifers. Instead of doing that, they kept on drawing from the aquifers until they & the settlers destroyed it with salt water coming from the sea. So because of their rejection to even come close and discuss the whole matter with us , we finally built the dam at Karkotis and they ended up getting nothing!

At the moment there is the UN funded project for the Sewage treatment plants of ALL Nicosia area (both free and occupied). Most households have already been connected.
All those waters (about 15 million tons per year) end up to occupied Mia Milia, and all the treated water goes for irrigation in the occupied.

And then they are dreaming of selling us water. The fact is that 90% of the water resources of the island are in the free areas... Not even the God of water ever recognized the pseudo state.

as a project that shows forsight, innovation and a practical application of technology, i would think, if image is important, this would be attractive.

In emergency situations yes blimps could be used, ships could be used, anything could be used
We did get water from Greece with ships when we had an emergency situation, but have you ever asked how much it costed us to bring it here with ships??
Blimps do cost also, and they are also slow and can't carry much quantity. They have to be filled up with heliun to rise then deflate to land, then fill up again to fly back etc. Helium needs Electricity to be produced... and it is pretty expensive.

The "dream of the century" for the occupied is NOT for some limited quantities for EMERGENCY use. It is for massive quantities that aim at turning the occupied into a huge agricultural place for one and only purpose. To bring in MORE SETTLERS who's primarily job is agriculture and stock breeding

Some google translations from the link given by gardash in the other topic
http://www.gundemkibris.com/asrin-proje ... 50291h.htm

The authorities of the contractor during the groundbreaking ceremony for the March 7, 2014 as the date of completion at 13.00 aiming at the water valve opens to the TRNC said.

1.5 meters in diameter and 8 meters long, weighs 7.5 tons of ductile iron pipes,

The project Anamur town ruins of Pumping Station with the TRNC Guzelyali 80-kilometer pipeline to the sea.

Taşucu'ndaki 500-meter pipes are produced on site with a trailer to be moved from the sea. Vessels on the surface of the sea through the combined giant pipes, filled with sea water, submerged in the sea floor and ceiling be fixed with the help of robots. Reached a depth of 250 meters from the pipes will be suspended.

So what do we have here?

a)Put a reminder on my mobile to log in here on 14/3/2014 at 13.00 to piss off VP from the fact that no valve will open in any ceremony in the occupied

Piss off lordo's Newtonian gravity theory right now

Confirm Bill's observation about the absolute absence of any factory producing the 500m long plastic pipes "on site".

Confirm they are using ductile iron pipes for some local area distribution of water in Turkey.

@ kikapou, the "TRNC" does not exist functionally, if it is anything it is a Cypriot Constituency, but that would require Turkey to withdraw, and Greeks to form a Constituency where both through self-representation, their electors can sustain an identity as Persons. Thus, be demonstrating Bicommunal Principals, the Republic is freed from representing its Citizens as "Greek" or "Turk", but as Individuals, and Cypriot, all equals, without distinction and without discrimination. it, the regime in the north, has no equal at present, it cannot be punished, as you say, and as it is it exists to serve the Army, it's illegal occupier, punishment enough for the Kibrisli, who suffer under it. we all suffer from Turkey's lack of vision or Humanity.

...those in the know apparently think this water can be sold to foreigners, so many Tons, so easy, with a deadline set, soon. i think Cypriots can manage their needs themselves better. today, we can observe from the south that their Civil Works manage the needs of a population 4-5 times bigger. we see in the north something far different. and yet a country so powerful, like Turkey can do no better, "they" drilled for oil in the north and left a mess, "they", their representatives, have garbage on the streets piled high in the (so called) Capital, "they" cannot even manage to pay their Utility bills. we all hope for such a project's success, but who are the innovators, where are their heroes in this exploit, where are the young and the Academia from Cypriot Universities, involved, a project of this scale surely has hundreds, where is any Cypriots involved in any of this? Cypriots are the foreigners, Turkish or Greek, because they are not "Turkish" enough, water for Cypriots, at a price no doubt.
