Many companies are keeping a close eye on the project, due to the 'flow' problem.

Emphasizing caution, the WWF report said a project like this “usually reflects ignorance of the social and environmental costs and a failure to adequately consider better, local alternatives, such as improved management of local demand.”

The pipeline, promoted as the first of its kind in the world, is experimental. Some observers wonder what kind of difficulties its builders will encounter, or if it will even be built.

how can transporting water be dangerous to the environment you silly boy. at worst it will leak water.

stop being stupid - it is already half built. does that not mean they are at the deepest section.

woooooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

My post was quoted directly from the NY times article. I did not write it.

You should write to the author and the WWF and correct their opinion.

For what it's worth, when I was in Turkey last week, I asked my brother in law about this water project and that he was under the impression from what he read, that it was half finished in laying the pipes across the Med to Cyprus. He pointed out that it was the first in the world for building such a project. I'm just shocked that we in the west do not have any information on this project if it's half finished already.

By the way, I wasn't suggesting my brother in law knows for sure anything more about the water project than anyone else. He just reads the same crap we all read in the Turkish Newspapers.

...it is the source of the water that the WWF is talking about. this water is shared by other countries, more neighbours who will find Turkey's acts as hostile.

We have established that desalination is cheaper, proven and a better strategy to manage resources locally vs the demand. Why this costly "experimental" pipe?

Sure and it is the same as the water coming out of the toilet too. There is no water like spring water.
