I hope every word you have put in your response comes true. Sorry that I have put a grim picture but I am not painting it. It's happened and it's going to happen. Some things in life are easy to see the cause and effect or outcome of a action. The action of the BREXIT will have a ripple affect its obvious. UK contributes a lot to the membership and it's not just the monetary aspect it's the whole cultural one nation bull shit communist type of ethos out the window.

...in any case, on the topic of water, i feel sad that it has come to this. Whether by corruption, or willful ignorance, having decades to manage the situation, it hasn't been. It has become so grave that Citizens feel they can only accept what is offered, that there is no choice, no meaningful representation, that they have nothing that they can do toward their own lives, (but pay), this is the struggle, (more than) about water; it seems at the finish line.

Vastly more mobile, passed the Modern Age, and into the Age of Information, speaking English for work, and multi-lingual otherwise, fiercely individualistic, it is hard to imagine in this environment, this island with an identity other than Cypriot.

...what will be left of Erdogan's legacy if things remain the same in Cyprus, after he his gone (read: buried)? His will sit in ruins, the people even more divided, (his) mosques empty, more empty hotels, more mountains scarred, more piles of garbage, more piles of debt, piles more corruption, and if this pipeline ever works, "piece water", it will, then, be broken; seriously.

Take heart Mustie, whatever happens to the rest of the world, for now, while Cyprus is held ransom by a very greedy, brutal man, he needs help from "terror" too; his own has turned (and is turning) around to bite him.

...it is not hard for him to go beyond the bully, and the autocrat, with a change of intention overnight, he can make History that will be far more lasting. In a counter intuitive kind of way, i'm (still) rooting for him.

[07] Turkey's DSI has opened a tender in Turkey to assign "private companies" with duties related with the "water transferred project"

Turkish Cypriot daily Havadis newspaper (18.10.17) reports that Turkey's Water Affairs Department (DSI) has opened tenders in Ankara the day before yesterday in order to assign some "private companies" with the "duties" of rendering the "water transferred from Turkey to the TRNC", to be potable.
According to the paper, the tender procedures will be launched in Ankara and Turkey aims to assign "private companies" with the "duty of the operation and control of the facilities to be built, the renovation, cleaning and provide periodic control services". The paper adds that the tender is open for both local and foreign companies. The name of the winner of the tender will be announced on November 13, adds the paper.

The ground-breaking ceremony for a Turkish-sponsored irrigation project in Northern Cyprus was held on Wednesday.

The project -- which consist of a 5.7-kilometer (3.5 mile) tunnel for supplying water to farmlands -- is being added to current water supply facilities from Turkey to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Under the new project, about half of 75 million cubic meters of fresh water sent annually through an existing underwater pipeline is expected to be used for irrigation purposes.
