In fact they said they would bring it down the town by the seaside and then use pumps to push it.
Your argument that it would be gravity fed was always untrue. Secondly they said they would deliver 80 million tons/year, that's about 2.5 tons per second!! Care to explain me how they could do that from the reservoir by the seaside without using pumps?

This is an educational thread for sure. Is it possible to pump water through an 80 km long pipe? I recall something about the head of water that the pump has to overcome to pump efficiently. Eighty km at a diameter of 1.5 meters is one hell of a head to push by one pump. Has it been done before anywhere?

There is also the sociological aspect. The problem that stumps the flow is a tiny administrative one, that could have been fixed via an interim arrangement, yet it was not and it blocks a half billion Euro project. Amazing stuff when you think it concerns one of the most vital resources used by people.

Maybe Pyro has a point re the face saving antics.
