Now there is talk about pumps and air bleed valves, and not a few, they mentioned 170 of them. How can you pump water over a 80km pipeline with pumps only at either end? And how are these air bleed things installed in such a long pipeline?

Is it possible to insert air bleed hoses into the pipe at either end? Just asking because I do not see how they can be attached at the depth this thing is at now.

to install bleeders into a pipe in the water would be as easy as pie. however there is no need. if there was they would have installed them before they were installed. you people are beyond a joke. first it was not possible. no you can see problems. according to one fool it will last for one year. it is planned to last for 30 years, according to lordo's hydraulic calculations it will last for 100 years +- 5 years.

Lordo you obviously do not read posts.

I never said it would not work. I said it could not compare to eithr tankers or desal on investment and operating costs.

Easy as pie to connect valves at a depth of 250 meters? Really?

Cyprus was always short of water, how come they never used tankers in the past? Why wait till now for a water project?

A bit of news, San Diego in California, though connected with a big pipe, bigger than yours, to the Colorado river, has just inaugurated a huge desal plant. Reported by all major news networks today. Makes you wonder what they know you do not know.

We 've been discussing this from day one, we already consumed 200+ pages, there is nothing in those articles that we don't already know.
The company that makes the flanges released a video on youtube a long time ago there's no doubt the flanges are very good (and expensive).

What's striking though is the total absence of information on a)how much electricity it will consume, and b)how they will do repairs 280m below sea and c)how they "solved" the problem of air accumulation inside the pipes which is common problem on all water pipelines.
Regarding "c" we now learned they didn't do anything.

I don't think the Turkish Engineers are stupid. They knew they would have these problems and I am absolutely certain they warned Erdogan about it. Obviously Erdogan and Lordo understand more or less about the same of things like that. The only difference is that the former is a Sultan and he ordered them to do it no matter what.

The chance of this project ever proving sustainable is equal to me rolling 77 on dice

So far I haven't read any negative article from foreign experts regarding this pipeline... as in one article it was mentioned; a strong tsunami or an earthquke might cause a damage on it... let's see... i'm not an expert on such issues...

you and charlui said it was a myth that it could not be done.

what is it with you people. 350 pounds per square inch pressure at 250 meters depth is less than the pressure your carwash jetter throws out onto the car bonnet with no problem what so ever. a whale can dive 3000 meters below water and it has no problems. water pipe that diameter with smooth bends does not need any airpocket removers of any kind.

when it comes to electricity how many times do we have to say it. there is no pumps involved between terggy and cyprus. the pumps are in cyprus to push the water over the mountain. not that it would be needed but thats for another day.

Well, over those 200+ pages we've posted some opinions from experts who just expressed generalized doubts. Nothing specific.
A few days ago we had the first article of problems with the "suction pads"
lordo is just hula hooping here, before the project has even passed the test of time
