Don't worry, we can always take the case to an Ottoman court. I'm sure that there this water plan will be praised for its cheap price on the basis that it's Turkish.

This is the source of water prices in the Free Areas of the Republic...
http://www.moa.gov.cy/moa/WDD/WDD.nsf/a ... penelement

... which includes the following prices for a tonne of water for agricultural use as of 17.10.12...

1
(Unfiltered water for irrigation)

(Recycled water from waste treatment plants)

....

... so an average of about 10 cents a tonne.

Then come the costs for treating it to become potable/usable for human consumption.
Then the costs for pumping it around e.g to bring it to Nicosia they have to pump it at 348m over Konelli....

Both you and Bill are correct. The 40 Euro cents per m3 of water is only the transfer cost from Turkey to Cyprus, which comes to around 30 million Euros per year. The added cost for moving the water around Cyprus and making it it drinkable will be added on top. I guess the 30 million Euros cost per year will go toward the repayment cost for the project+ interest.

Expensive cucumbers!

we will have to wait a year to know the absolute truth, but the real problem is a critical lack of water.

...whereas the project was meant to create a level playing field when it comes to negociations between the adversaries north and south, it has created an even more skewed situation. clearly Turkey is to blame if this is all a lie. my question is whether people like vp will reconsider their total loyalty to a regime that has failed them so badly; what will they do?

The GCs are going to carry gas under water to Crete but Turkey cant from Turkey to the TRNC, well the target date is 2014 and we are also hearing that its not only a water pipe but also electricity and gas, so you can work it out for yourselves, the recognition ball is about to start rolling.
your first post in this topic; this project.
