Exactly. And while members of my family are Greek Cypriot, their concerns are my concerns as well as my children's concerns. All legal owners on paper of property in the north. I will not have anybody tell me it is of no concern to me, because directly and indirectly all of it concerns me. Wherever I may live in the world, I will defend their legal rights

funny you should talk about legal owners of property and of course the groc has not stolen any tc properties and is not refusing to return them to their owners are they. like hell the thieving bstards. talking of bstards where exactly are the resident charluis.

...the best agricultural land in Cyprus is dry, now. Lordo, don't deny that the reasons are man-made, that is all that i'm saying, and your denial regretfully means that the facts do not resonate, yet. Even if this ''pipeline'', works, the results will not provide the promise it holds for you at the moment. "You"/you, will be glad to have some, but at a cost where it is not to your benefit. And in the end, "you" will be in the same position, sometime in the future, with this attitude of mind; you, of course will be dead.

It is man made. I'm not sure, but I'm certain the systems put in place by our great grand fathers etc, worked adequately for keeping the best agricultural land in Cyprus to an acceptable level.
The problem we have is currently it has been filled with people who have no clue how to work with it, abused it, and over populated it. Putting a severe strain on what was already in place.
Sure, it's not all a man made problem. If rain doesn't fall from the sky....

Lordo, You commented on the environmental issue of the pipeline. It can't be put in the sea and ignored, like everything else, it needs maintenance. Its vital. If any saltwater gets into the smallest of holes, that prime agricultural land will be destroyed, and the lands our grandfather's and great grandfather's toiled over will be nothing but dust, and of no use to the people who are caretakers of their lands.

are we now looking for problems that will never exist. look at it scientifically. what is the chance that sea water will leak into the pipeline. at any depth inside this pipe the water pressure is greater inside then out. if there is going to be a leak it will be in the reverse.

"You have water in the south because of Troodos..."

Not exactly. There is water in the south because of several desal plants working 24 hours a day. Every golf course is forced to invest in its own desal unit. Many multistory buildings incorporate grey water use and soon that will be mandatory for all buildings. Agriculture utilises drip irrigation. The old system of flood irrigation (plymanto in Greek) is practically gone.

Bringing water does not solve the problem long term. California has water brought in from almost all adjacent states, and their water problem is not solved, in fact it is just beginning to manifest itself and they are talking about desalination now.

The problem with these pharaonic projects is that a simple technical fix usually comes along and cancels out their supposed benefits. Right now there are pipes being made in the uk that allow the irrigation of land with sea water. Yes, sea water, look up DUTYION for more info.

car parks and golf courses my left foot. you have been taking the tcs money from donations by the un since 1963 and have built all these dams. there is jack shit left for the tcs.

you should know that if you starve people they will look at alternatives...

in some ways it is just as well you have shown your true colours before the agreement. it proves you cannot be trusted on anything.

here is a the list

a) Three kilometers of pipe in total will be laid under the water by the end of this year,
b)The project, which is envisaged to be completed by March of next year, will be funded by Turkey. Stressing that so far a 500-meter-long second pipe....

Go figure

...seen it.

Is there nothing Academic where Universities have been involved? Is there no opposition, at least, no debate, as to alternatives, the costs and benefits? This is my biggest disappointment with this project, where it has failed the most is its transparency, it appears to have absolutely no value, other than the political benefit for propaganda.
