Fear, total fear, was introduced to us in the summer of 1958, when TC mobs attacked our neighborhood repeatedly. The address is Alexandrou street, where Antonakis bar still stands today, three blocks from Lokmaci. For no reason, no provocation, repeatedly that summer. There was no motive for attacking unarmed civilians in the center of a city other than racism.
Racism reflected in the statements of that time by Denktash and Kutchuk, in the exclusion of GCs from TC areas, even garbagemen were not allowed in, and the infamous "From Turk to Turk" campaign.
TC racism surfaced again in February 1964 with the ouster of Armenians by TMT in Nicosia. Racism still evident now when the TC side makes NO reference to any other minority in Cyprus except themselves, when they nationalise property for no reason other than it belongs to non TCs, accept employment and social welfare in the RoC but refuse to let a GC to even have a kiosk in the trunc.
