Are you proud of saying OXI?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

LET'S FACE REALITY!

Postby Vassos1 » Thu Nov 03, 2005 3:29 pm

I think we Greek Cypriots are clouded with what the real issue concerning Cyprus today. Turkey is obviously filtering a large amount of Turks, disguising as Kurdish refuges, into our Republic of Cyprus. Also Turkey is very happy to sit back and wait for the population of Cyprus to one day swing towards the Turkish side. I think that we should cut loose from these Turks now while we’ve got the chance, before we are faced with another pointless power-sharing formula. If we continue to seek a “unification” policy, we will no doubt one day become the minority. Remember, under EU law, we will have no choice but to accept these people as “Refugees”. Let’s cut loose from them officially now before we suddenly wake up to a Majority Turkish population. I am not amused by some of our Greek Cypriots who clearly, and falsely, try to give the world the impression that we are all for unification. The Turks can keep their 30 odd percent, as long as they are unable to become a Citizen in our Republic of Cyprus. I have already started to see the results of "Denktash's" border opeining tactics, with Ayi Napa and Larnaca being flooded with Turkish youths acting against our people and republic. I am proud I said OXI in APril 2004, and will always say OXI if we are confronted with a plan that is less that Two-totally seperate Republic zones. I was 21 years old in Cyprus in 1974 when my so-called Turkish CYpriot friends had suddenly turned on me and starting acting my village from a high-top post with a rifle. I saw many of my friends killed at the time by, not Turks from Turkey, but from the Turkish CYpriots from my own village. The wounds are too deep to avoid, and I am now starting to feel that the Turks are visiting our Republic with no security for our people. It is as if they are allowed to visit by coming from a non-governmental area. At least if they were represented by a Turkish CYpriot Republic, we would be able to control the amount of Turkish visitors and monitor their actions. At present, no even our Grandchildren are safe.

Vassos, if you are indeed a Greek Cypriot you belong to a very tiny minority. The great majority wants unification, and a minority would prefer partition if land is given back. your position that Turkey can keep legally everything that they took from us is the position of no Greek Cypriot that I know.

hey vassos1
welcome to the forum

i guess the wounds are too deep my friend. but we also did many stupid things and so did they. its 30 years since that happened, and i really believe and hope that this will not happen any more. we have to start looking in the future without forgeting the past but instead leaarning from it. i do believe that a peaceful unification is possible.

and dont worry if we become a minority. we will still have our state and we can keep our 50-50 share :)
hopefully by that time we will manage to refer to cypriots and not greek and turks anymore.

turkish propaganda

Postby lysi » Sat Nov 12, 2005 4:57 pm

IF THE GREEK CYPRIOTS STICK TOGETHER FOR A CHANGE AND PROTEST ABOUT THE OCCUPATION THEN THE WORLD WILL NOT FORGET.
Everytime you see pro-turkish propaganda then complain about it and put the greek cypiot point of view across.
Also complain to those newspapers that carry adverts for sale of stolen greek cypriot land and property in the occupied areas.

Thats right.

We cant let the world forget...because some ignorant people are staarting to believe crap like TC human rights are being abused by Greeks...when they clearly dont tell of the whole story.

What about our rights? Which have a legeitimate case in the ECHR.

My friend, continue to deceive yourself, Erdogan will push forward with his plan of EU membership whatever the cost. The ones who are swimming in the shit are you TC's, we are a member of the European Union, you will HAVE to comply with the formalization of the Customs agreement next year, otherwise Merkel and others such as Austria will jump at the chance to do a 'see, we told you so!' to the advocates of Turkish Membership, and believe me, Turkey will comply, and the pseudostate, far from having more open borders and trade, will sink further into obscurity as Turkey in need of Europe sacrifices the financial hindrance of The pseudostate. Papadopoulos is a master of politics, call it deceit or whatever, he may have lost the battle of opinion in elite circles after Annan Plan, but he has won the war.

But please, continue to deceive yourself.

Welcome to the forum.

Glad you have realized TPap is a master of deception. But who is he deceiving? Turkey and TCs have seen through his motives long time ago, he is not deceiving them, he is deceiving the GCs public.

What Denktash failed to achieve, Papadopolous will. And he has deceived you to such an extent that you are even going to thank him for that.

The rest of your post is wishful thinking rather than any reflection of reality.

Hahahahah 'wishful'?

You are the wishful one, you think anyone in Europe wants Turkey in?

In places like France and Germany and Austria, Politicians will have to have no problems in accession talks otherwise people will look at the geographical expression that is Turkey and think it is being stubborn.

If you think you can pass EU accession talks, in our current climate, without formalizing the Customs agreement, which inveitably means recognition, and the legal ramifications of that, then you are insane.

Exactly. The odds against Turkish membership are too high, Turkey will never make concessions on Cyprus just to see the EU door shut in its face.

Again...you type the some old crap. If TC have sussed out Tpap...why the hell are they still using the free healthcare he made for TC, something that GC have to pay for.

BGTurk, you comments really have no substance towards them at all.

Exactly. The odds against Turkish membership are too high, Turkey will never make concessions on Cyprus just to see the EU door shut in its face.

Just goes to show how sincere Turkey is about reunification.
