Other Turks try to claim Iranian oil fields

Postby yialousa1971 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 9:06 pm

TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (MNA) – Iranian Oil Ministry official has announced that Israel pressures Azerbaijan to have it claim ownership of Iran’s Sardar-e Jangal oil field.
Recently Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister has claimed that Sardar-e Jangal oil and gas fields which Iran has discovered last year did not belonged to Iranian territories. He asserts that these oil and gas reservoirs are located between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

According to the Iranian Oil Ministry officials, this is the second time that Azerbaijan lays claim on these oil and gas fields. When they claimed for the first time, there was a meeting between the two countries, and Iran presented all the official documentation for Sardar-e Jangal oil fields to Azerbaijanis’ officials.

The Oil Ministry official stressed that when Iran officially announced the discovery of these oil and gas fields in the media, Azerbaijan official sent congratulatory messages to Iran.

Another Iranian oil official said that Azerbaijani officials have made this kind of claims every now and then, under the pressure from Israeli officials. Azerbaijan has been working closely with Israel in oil and gas explorations and every so often they announce some kind of unsubstantiated claims like this. Since Israel and Azerbaijan cooperate together on oil and gas fields in Caspian Sea.

This official added that Azerbaijan official know that these oil and gas reservoirs belonged to Iran and no other country had any right to them.

The Sardar-e Jangal oil and gas fields have been discovered in 2011 after 10 years of exploration by Iranian scientists and are on the Iranian border in the Caspian Sea. This gas field is about 24 KM length and 16 KM wide and it is located 728 meters deep into the seabed. This field may have over 25 million barrels of oil reservoir.

I think they have factored in Turkey to the equation as well as Israel. :)
