The corruption in government contracts is a RULE THAT APPLIES EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD. There is absolutely no contract in any Country of let's say more than 10,000 Euros worth (*), that doesn't involve feeding (**) at least one government official. Not even one Country is exempted. For example Austria is one of the last countries you would ever expect to to happen isn't it? Well perhaps you should know that there is Austrian Mafia which is worse than that of Italy, only them get 10-15%, I ve seen it myself...
Greece is no exemption as for Turkey you will be shocked to learn who are usually behind government contracts
However this is not what happened in Greece. In Greece the Governments from 1982 onwards were getting loans on a pyramid fashion by cooking the books and living beyond their capabilities. It's actually a miracle that this pyramid lasted for almost 30 years before collapsing. Something similar happens in the USA, without having to cook any books. They keep on increasing their dept to have growth. They already reached the limit of what (16.5 trillion?) then what? Just cross your fingers....
(*) For low value contracts of say about 10,000 Euros or less there is usually a grace period. It is quite possible to get one contract on merit. Extremely difficult to get a 2nd one. And impossible to get a 3rd one, unless you follow the RULES OF THE GAME.
(**) In the majority of cases it is not even feeding.Simply a high status Government official is hidden behind a company that belongs to either family members or friends.
