CY Football to Reunify

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

CY Football to Reunify

Postby bill cobbett » Sat Jan 19, 2013 3:12 am

Well, some very good news on the horizon as the football associations on both sides of the cease-fire line are close to a reunification settlement.

Just goes to show that if CYs agree to play football together then anything is possible and how very wrong the Partitionists like VP and Blobbo have been.

Perhaps CYs should dump the UN and ask FIFA to broker the wider settlement talks...???

This was attempted several years ago and just when both sides were about to sign on the dotted line, Turkey swooped in and blocked the TCs.

I hope this goes through, but let's see if Turkey shows their true colours this time round.

These talks are on the air for more than 8 years. Don't hold your breath Bill...

Will the GC teams play matches in the TRNC?

Why not?

With the meetings still on-going, lets see what FIFA and UEFA, who are neutral in all this, decide.

The real question is whether Turkey go against the wishes of the TCs and block this?

Well put it this way... CY teams from the Occupied Areas will be able to play in the Free Areas and vice-versa, through a reunified CY league system and they will be able to compete for places in the UEFA competitions.

There's hope of a final reunification agreement in March when both sides meet under FIFA/EUFA offices in Switzerland.

... BUT, as has been said above, the last deal was Embargoed by the Offside-Regime of "trnc" who were insisting on the usual separation we have come to expect.

Well, we didn't have to wait 'til March for a veto from the Rubbish Regime of "trnc"...

According to the Baycrap site, a "special representative" to Eroglu, an Osman Ertuğ, is warning against the talks between the football bosses.

He is reported as saying that this should be evaluated in the usual broader context and further says 'this is an issue beyond football"...!!!

A Red Card for Mr Ertuğ for saying that there are things more important than football.
