Why don't you stop with your trolling posts? You clearly have nothing but personal attacks to offer.

And you have nothing but this “Hellenism” to offer… a washed out fantasy about mythological aggrandizement being a panacea! :?

It looks like its literally done miracles for Cyprus so far…

All Cypriots need to do is keep helleno-fantasizing out of all their problems!

Bound to work!

It is this continuation of sovereign rights over the waters between Greece and Cyprus which would have made the whole soooo much greater than the sum of the parts. Hence why being in the EU is now, as compensation, central to give both Cyprus and Greece that sense of being co-joined. The enosis the visionaries dared to hope for ...

What a loada balloney from the Petroleum Jelly for a a brain "g"IG...!!!

CY came to agreements with Egypt, Israel and the Lebanon years ago and not just on delineating their EEZs but also more recently, have taken things much further with agreements for joint co-operations in the exploitation of the hydrocarbons...

Now is anyone with Lubricating Grease for a brain suggesting some kind of Enosis with these countries leading on from these agreements...!!!

... oh and it has to be said ...and in the case of Israel, all but the blind stupid with Gas for a brain will have seen the massive support that Israel has already given CY with the very real presence of the IAF and the Israeli Navy last year over CY skies and in CY waters which got Turkey to back down from its usual provocations.

What a barrel of laughing Gas. Let's distill your crude pilot post. Despite your recent awakening, the prospect of Gas/Oil in these waters (betwixt Cyprus and Greece) originated from at least the 1950s. Which is when the USA got involved and prevented the UK from ceding Cyprus to Greece as promised in the 1940s. The recent alliances between Israel and Cyprus where all mediated via Athens. Cyprus is in the EU because of Athens. Like it or not - we are co-dependent on Greece.

Someone please tell the in need of a Lobotomy Drilling "g"IG that this is the sort of quality of link she might want to post, this one to the very Real Agreement 'twixt CY and Israel to define their EEZ boundaries, duly and properly lodged with the UN UNCLOS directory...

http://www.un.org/Depts/los/LEGISLATION ... z_2010.pdf

... and not links to Kafenion Talk "conferences"... !!!

Oh and here's another Link of Real Quality... this is one to a summary of the work of the US Geological Survey, the appraisal which started the ball rolling in the search for deep-water oil/gas in the Eastern Med...

It wouldn't happen so smoothly without Papandreou oiling his buddy Netanyahu!

Boreeeeng...!!! The all-important document 'twixt CY and Israel to agree their neighbouring EEZs was signed in 2010...!, one whole year before the Papandreou/Netanyahu phone-call...!!!

... and if that weren't enough to blow "g"IG's rig out of the water, the similar agreement with Egypt was signed in 2004...!!! and CY also modified its national legislation to be able to declare an EEZ in 2004... both events six years beforehand...!!!

... and the Resin-Brained amongst us soooo easily and conveniently forget that Noble is an American company which didn't need anyone's leave to drill unmolested in CY waters other than CY's, along with a little greasing from the US State Dept of course, perhaps through a few wise words from the US Ambassador in Ankara.

Hopefully those German patriot missiles will deter Turkey from "corresponding steps" - so well done Samaras for chatting to Merkel last week for more EU solidarity. And well done to the Hellenic American Leadership Council for their work with the US Congress to stop Turkey acquiring war-mongering frigates.

just so you know I had a nice message from HALC thanking me for supporting their petition.

A Turkish biased item......

Go for it, Greece, but cut the Enosis crap, GiG. It caused problems in 63, 67 and 74,

Greece has moved closer to declaring the max allowable EEZ under UNCLOS with the registration of objections at the UN to Turkish threats to survey in the Aegean and off the island of Kastellorizo.

The letter sent a few days ago, on the 20 Feb 2013, to the Sec General of the UN is at this link...

When Greece declares it's EEZ then (up to 12 miles) then everything is solved.. Turkey isolated will compromise ..and unable to win/declare a war against Greece and Cyprus.

Well in the Ionian and in the seas to the south of Crete, Greece has already claimed the max allowable under UNCLOS which is much more than 12 miles.

More news reported by Ekathimerini that seismic prospecting by the Norwegian firm Petroleum Geo-Services has been completed in the Ionian and in the Med to the south of Crete.

They also report that two mega multi-nationals are very interested in buying the data, our friends the French firm TOTAL, and Exxon Mobil and given the interest of these firms there are high expectations of the prospects in these areas from the Development Ministry.

The paper reports that Greece will be splitting the areas into Exploration Blocks and inviting bids later this year.

\12 miles from a defined baseline (normally low water mark) is territorial waters. The EEZ runs for up to 200 miles from the baseline, or the midpoint with neighbouring countries base lines'.

Signing UNCLOS and agreeing the EEZ should be a strict condition of Turkey continuing EU entry talks (along with removal of occupying forces and settlers from Cyprus)

Well it's a requirement of closing the Energy Chapter of EU Accession that Turkey signs and ratifies UNCLOS... if ever the Chapter is opened.

Anyway, more news from Greece and its EEZ...

Following a visit by Pres Hollande of France to Athens a few days ago, it looks on the cards that France will loan the Hellenic Navy two state of the art FREMM Frigates at no cost for up to six years...

... some sources are saying that these frigates are apparently very useful for oil and gas exploration... ...
