The Cypriot "Conspiracy Theory"

Postby The GeoChipre » Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:23 am

The Cypriot newspaper "Γνώμη" (opinion) recently claimed that from December 2009 until now the left is living its own Stone Age.

There isn't emphasis on this Government's "Waterloo's" on...Cyprus Problem, the island's bad economic situation, Mari e.t.c, e.t.c so a Conspiracy Theory appears.

The stars are politicians like Vassos Lyssarides, Nicolas Papadopoulos and Giorgos Lillikas. The Opposition's DISI and the media group DIAS are included in the casting too. They form two groups "blessed" by - don't laugh- the Archbishopric first and then the United States. What do they want? To eliminate once and for all a second left-wing presidency and of course weaken, the only defense of the lower classes against the most recent "capitalist" threat, this economic crisis, which is the left.

So what do you think about the plot?

The Christofias Government has been a disaster for Cyprus. There is no doubt about this.

Maybe the financial crisis was unnavoidable, because Cypriot Banks heavily invested in Greece (stupid), forcing the Republic into recapitalising them.

But that is only half of it. When Christofias took office 5 years ago, he needed to borrow so heavily to sustain his wasteful spending, and this resulted in the National Debt doubling in magnitude to that which he inherited from the previous administration.

On top of that, he ignored ECB and Financial Credit Warnings for over 18 months, and delayed in entering negotiations with lenders, ECB and the EU and he also delayed introducing Austerity Spending cuts to the point that now there may not even be enough money to pay Public Sector salaries, pensions and other benefits. This delay resulted in Credit Agencies lowering our rating to junk status and leaving the country without the ability to borrow from the markets.

These actions of his were to the detriment of the entire population especially the working class and the youth.

I can't wait for the next elections because the sooner we see the back of Christofias the better.

In fact, I think we should ask Christofias for a refund of his salary...

We should concentrate more on removing the Turks and worry less about how "rich" or "poor" the country is. This entails preserving the structure of the EU in its foundation years against the enemies that wish to destroy it (USA/UK and Turkey mostly).

This government could do more to put Cyprus'' occupation more in the public eye; and tie it up in some way to Gas exploration benefiting the whole EU.

Go for it girl!
But just enlighten me please, what is it exactly that the successive governments in Cyprus had not doen to end the "occupation"? What else do you propose they should do?

If you have nothing to offer as an alternative then you should stop making idle comments! Try telling the workers in Cyprus not to worry about how poor the country is and see how you will be recieved my dear

...who are the workers in this scenario, it is a question of class, you are Unionised or not, i too do not believe the "left" has a grasp, if you will, on who are the Prolotariat.

...and as Good Governance goes, Cyprus had a successful term leading the EU, kind of ironic, eh?
