Property prices falling?

This is for sale in Oroklini,
http://www.buysellcyprus.com/nqcontent. ... ng_P_15528

55,000 Euros or about 45k UK pounds. Having followed the market for a while I'm sure it would have fetched 70k - 80K two or three years ago. Perhaps there is an upside to the economic crisis in Cyprus in that property will become more affordable.

It will only be more affordable if you have cash, because the banks won't lend you anything!

As ever check for un-emcumbered and debt-free title-deeds and level of service charges file.

Stayed for a month in central Oroklini three years ago.. an excellent pantopoleon and taverns but it was a bit noisy sometimes late in to the night from a taverna with loud music ... so perhaps check it out in the busy summer season.

The beach at Oroklini is ok'ish.

There are some wetlands around there, very nice for nature but check out the mossies.

I'm too bloody old to start borrowing money, besides, unlike the gullible fools who believed the salesman's hype, I would never buy a holiday property with borrowed money in the belief that it was a good investment.

I'm not too sure that decent properties have gone down in price. These one and two bedroom concrete new-build apartments have always been cheap. Perhaps more of them are coming on the market now because the owners of such properties (poorer) are the first to feel debt-crisis reactions. I'm sure if you have cash and want a low-end market flat, there will be plenty of choice. But Oroklini seems full (only) of such places. At least buy a small property near Peyia and be nearer some prettier landscapes. :)

Had a sniff around there last year Bill. Some bits were OK but my wife wasn't too keen. The point of my post was to show how some prices appear to be falling quite fast.

Stayed near Peyia a few years ago, I don't like it. I want to be in or near Larnaca.

I should be staying here when in Cyprus but it was stolen.

I'm really sorry, Jerry. We should be taxing exploiters of our sunny island much more to help the effort to relocate people back to their rightful homes. :(

- On a more frivolous note, I cannot see the attraction of the Larnaca end of the island.

Each to their own, it's closer to the part of Cyprus I remember in my younger days in particular Varosha. Besides the grandchildren love Larnaca seafront and the beach there.
