VP your leadership from 1974 until today was always working to make SOLUTION=IMPOSSIBLE.And there was a very logical reason for that. They did not want re-unification, they wanted TAKSIM-their own state. After all why all that "struggle and all those sacrifices from 1960 onwards? To re-unite with the gavurs????  Talat himself (who later turned up to be a pioneer of reunification) and his party CTP were among the pioneers who passed the so called law of "citizenship" for the first thousands of settlers while they were not even in power-Denktash was. Everything they did was according to this plan. As soon as the International reaction against the Invasion calmed down, they declared their "own" state. And to fool those few of you who wanted re-unification they said they did it to facilitate re-unification LOL.
So, let's not hide behind our fingers shall we? TAKSIM was always the target.

Recognition was the next step and your leaders thought they would get that too in a few years after repetitive deadlocks in the negotiations. Negotiations to which they would never agree on anything substantial anyway. Eroglu is still doing that

However things got very complicated in the meantime. Cyprus has joined the EU, the real Kibrislis are becoming extinct, the settlers today outnumber the Kibrislis, there is a very serious and mostly unsolvable property issue, Turkey has made her own new plans about the occupied areas and their future, and finally gas was found in the EEZ of the RoC.

So my dear forget about BBF, political equalities and all that stuff. Those things belong to the past, they cannot be implemented today even if the Kypreoi wanted to.There are other embedded problems for the Kypreoi starting from the number of settlers, the properties, the miniscule number of the real kibrislis that are now living in Cyprus, plus the problems with Turkey's own plans for the occupied areas or for the whole of Cyprus.

In my opinion the situation will stay as it is for the foreseeable future. It may change if one of the 2 sides collapses, but that is also very unlikely. Most probably It will never change, our problem will be like that between China and Taiwan, for which nobody cares.

You conveniently forget that Taksim was born out of enosis, a direct response for survival and an alternative route to becoming a Greek island.

Do you really think the GC want unification when they have the recognized country without TCs? they have what they want and are milking it for all its worth without having to share a thing. So all they have to been seen doing is want a solution for the stupid refugees who have been promised a return to pre 1974. You also forget who rejected the last attempt a reunification this has been ingrained in everyone's minds throughout the world.

One thing we do agree on is that nothing will change as neither side is clever enough or has the desire for unification.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, Tick Tock........!

Turkey might be divided up by 2030: US report

A new report says Turkey may be divided by 2030 as predominantly Kurdish-populated regions in the southeastern part of country would secede, and form an independent Kurdistan state.

The report by the US National Intelligence Council said that greater pressures on Turkish territorial integrity could be the main impetus behind the emergence of a Kurdish state, together with greater fragmentation of Iraq and Syria.

“In the event of a more fragmented Iraq or Syria, a Kurdistan would not be inconceivable,” said the report.

One of six scenarios presented in the report consisted of a rising Kurdistan, which in turn affects Turkey's territorial unity by carrying a risk of separation.

Since its establishment in 1984, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has been fighting Ankara to set up a Kurdish state in the southeast of the country.

More than 45,000 people have reportedly been killed since then.

Turkey's Kurdish community, numbering to 25 million, openly sympathize with the PKK.

The PKK wants constitutional recognition for the Kurds, regional self-governance and Kurdish-language education in schools.

Turkey refuses to recognize its Kurdish population as a distinct minority.

It has allowed some cultural rights such as limited broadcasts in the Kurdish language and private Kurdish language courses under pressure from the international community, but Kurdish politicians say the measures fall short of their expectations.

they will cede Smyrna and Constantinople back to Greece, eastern Anatolia to Kurdistan and within the newly recognized international borders of the Turkish republic, they will have political equality of the 3 sides.

Turkey will still be a member of Nato, nothing will change here.

**1** That is a widespread fallacy among the Kibrislis. The fact that it came after the Enosis dream doesn’t mean it was born out of it! The FACT is the Kibrislis dreaded of the day the British would leave, because at best they would ene up a simple minority. So Enosis or not, independent state or not, Taksim seemed the only way out for them. How do you think we ended up to the 1960 agreements with so many super inflated rights for a class of people that were only 18% of the population?! Is it because the Kibrislis ever wanted an independent Unitary state?

**2** The Kypreoi still want a reunification of the island yes, because they have too much wealth in the occupied areas. However your leadership made it impossible by totally screwing their properties, by importing too many settlers etc etc. If they are not going to get back their properties, if they will share the island with more imported settlers than Cypriots, if they will get nothing out of it other than a headache and an economic load, then why should they want such a reunification?
It is also a myth that the Kypreoi have everything they want. Go ask the refugees , they are almost 40% of the population. You don’t know what it means to build a life from zero… True we have the advantage of having RoC, but if you think it is raining Euros and we milk them every morning come and join us.
Jesus, the whole state is at the verge of Bankruptcy… at least you have Turkey to pay all you salaries , you have ZERO foreign dept…. Actually you are the one who is milking the cow every morning, bless Turkey

**3** It is true that they initially promised the refugees return to their homes initially, but I don’t think anyone beleives it today. Most would be satisfied with free settlement agreements, but NOBODY would accept losing their properties.

**4**I was sure you would try to debunk my post by saying the Kibrislis proved they wanted re-unification in the period between 2002-2004 and their voting yes to the Anan Plan.
However we have to distinguish the wills of the real Kibrislis, their leaderships, and Turkey. I have no doubt the majority of real Kibrislis still want reunification even today.. In the period 2002-2004 they happened to have Talat in power who was a real clever man and among the few who realized early enough that the Taksim to recognition plan will never succeed. He tried the best he could, he succeeded in getting the Anan Plan which was so perfect for all, be it the real Kibrislis, Turkey, even the settlers, however a disaster for the Kypreoi.

You can claim fallacy or lie but the fact that enosis started before taksim is clear for everyone to see, without your desire to gift the whole island to Greece and get rid of the Tc population the deisre of TCs to share the island by dividing it would never have been born. If we lived in properity and were treated as equals by the majority why the hell would we want another situation, enosis is the reason why Cyprus is divided today.

The GCs do not want a compromised unification as they have everything they want, the rest is just to keep the stupid refugees quite and guessing about returning to what they lost.

**3** It is true that they initially promised the refugees return to their homes initially, but I don’t think anyone beleives it today. Most would be satisfied with free settlement agreements, but NOBODY would accept losing their properties.

This issue has to be addressed, people should either get the land back where physically possible or be paid compresation or give alternative offers of land surrendered by the TCs in the south.

What went down in history was your no and our yes to unificaiton as provided by the UN and support by the EU USA UK and even Greece, so this will be what the world remembers...add to this the years of endless talks with no result and its pretty clear that this problem cannot be solved, so in reality with both sides not willing to budge the current situation is the solution we deserve.

Speak for yourself VP. I don't think the Kypreoi refugees or my side deserve this. We NEVER worked to make SOLUTION=IMPOSSIBLE like you did. We did not steal your properties and gave them for free to Greek Generals or to Greek settlers. We never asked for the impossible in negotiations. We never asked for super inflated rights to protect us from the "evil" and "cunning" and "conspiring" people to name just of the few attributes you assign to us, to excuse your demands and serve your aim of SOLUTION=IMPOSSIBLE

Its called fighting for survival when you are the underdog. Pyro we are very mild people we wish no one any harm and we would share our last piece of bread with anyone, but if you slap me in the face kick me in the balls I will cut off your head, now do you get it?
