your beloved EU is the entity that has effectively destroyed your beloved Greece with its one size fits all Euro Currency. In 1975 I certainly did not vote for the bloated money sucking supranational undemocratic / antidemocratic entity that the EU has increasingly become.

I was happy to be a part of a free trade zone and to accept reasonable agreed rules on common safety standards in products but not for the extremes that have followed with ever increasing intervention in my life, and ever increasing demands on my pocket.

The organisation is corrupt to the core, with the bloated expense accounts for bureaucrats and missing Billions from the budget: the sooner the EU is scaled back the better.

Agreed!

Apart from the scaling back bit... Sadly the unelected that control the EU will never allow that - it must be destroyed. We can then start to build again on fair and democratic principles that respect national governments and democracies.

Or maybe reformed to what it was supposed to be when initially formed?

The guardian of the common European culture, safety, prosperity and true democratic governance. Which will respect the national identities, sensitivities and diversities of its members.

That would be perfect - but the unelected that run it, and desire a federal Europe would never allow it....

Maybe Golden Dawn should pay them a visit?

I do think we are seeing the start of a change... it may take years yet but slowly, slowly people are seeing the EU for what it really is...

It will unfortunately be extremely messy when it all comes tumbling down...

The problem surpasses the EU. Its a problem of Europe as a whole and as a fading ideal. The EU is just an institution (instrument) formed by some European Nations with the ideal to serve as a Union of all European Nations trying to mainly preserve the European principles, culture and, like I said before, the prosperity, safety etc of all European Nations. And also as a mighty entity which would be able to stand on its own feet against the other "big boys". Unfortunately, it has transformed into a "monetary" monster which is only trying to preserve and safeguard the economic "values" and interests of some of its members and of its bankers at all costs. Even the encouragement of massive immigration including the illegal immigration are to a great extend the doing of those who were seeking cheap labor in Europe so that their economies and their products would become "competitive". The rapid expansion of the EU itself, via the accession to it of so many new countries during the past few years, aimed precisely this target. So, can Europe change course? How soon? Is it too late already? If so, maybe individual nations can start trying on their own or in cooperation with other European nations which face the same problems and/or have similar aspirations for their future (for instance a coalition of the Mediterranean Nations of Europe).

Somewhere along the line, we allowed the unregulated Bankers to creep in (from their birthplace the USA/UK), and infect the EU like some viral disease. Sure, the EU is not administered perfectly - which governing bodies are? But given time, things will be improved as the populace becomes increasingly knowledgeable and demanding for accountability.

This is starting from Greece!

Just like Greeks revived Europe during the first Renaissance after the dark ages, so once again Greece and Greeks will be the spark for Neo-Renaissance which will provide a healthier and wealthier EU and put the USA-Dollar in its place! :D

Just for the Nicosia Branch of the Fartans...

Here is what Nigel Farage has to say about the Unelected and Unaccoutable EC External Affairs Commissioner Baroness Catherine Ashton, who as all will know, is a key proponent of Turkish Accession, who along with Equally Unelected and Unaccountable Enlargement Commissoner Fule, has come up with the current Rubbish "Positive Agenda" for Turkey's entry despite the continuing occupation of CY...

Welcome to GD Grumps. :D

The ultra nationalist far right party Golden Dawn supporters celebrated on Sunday after exit polls showed them winning between 5 to 7 per cent of the vote, enough for them to gain representation in parliament for the first time in Greek history.

Golden Dawn Leader, Nikolaos Michaloliakos shouted "The Europe of the nations returns, Greece is only the beginning" as he walked towards party headquaters and pledged to deal with illegal immigrants first.

Supporters clapped and chanted party slogan "Greece belongs to Greeks".

Golden Dawn, an extreme right nationalist party with patriotic symbolism and an anti-immigrant stance, has tapped into nationalist sentiment rising in the country after the strict European Union/IMF-imposed bailout terms helped plunge Greece into economic turmoil.

The party's gain in popularity is seen as an indication of the extent of public anger, as polls showed it taking an unprecedented 6-8 per cent of the vote.

Revealed: African immigrants who went to Greece for a better life tortured at the hands of nationalists | Mail Online

Did Greece's 21st century Facists leave this African immigrant scarred for life just because of the colour his skin?
Many face daily racist attacks, police apathy and a system that punishes them rather than their assailants
Hassan Mekki - a 32-year-old Sudanese migrant - was left with large gashes resembling an 'X' across his back following an attack

It has nothing to do with the colour of the skin but the timbre of the mind.
