Austerity almost certainly plays as unless due eg to severe breakdown of the kit and or there is demonstrable benefit from new systems (on the significantly better faster cheaper basis) and where the current OS (eg XP) and software is still cutting the mustard on existing kit no one is likely to invest in new systems in hurry.

The cash is not there.

Agreed.... I can't imagine there are (for instance) many PCs being purchased in Spain and Greece this Christmas....

Apple suffers worst share price fall in four years as $35bn wiped off tech giant
Apple suffered its worst one-day share price fall in almost four years on Wednesday on fears it was losing market share to rivals and disappointment over the lack of a special dividend.

they will probably recover but there is no doubt they have maxxed...in order to maintain or even extend their lead is to expand...innovation is just about tanked for apple with their closed architecture...they are now concetrating on this apple TV, connectivity, delivery and handling of media in the loungeroom...apple calls their gadgets "life style choice" for a reason...and it ain't to compete with microsoft or android...they are trying to justify their existence, present and future, with seamlessly merging computer and media technologies...this is where they got everyone over a barrel...they are building on this and extending their lead...don't know as how successful they will be, but for certain today they have a following...so far apple gadgets are portable pricey products, now you are locking them to an even bigger and a more presumably expensive apple media centre...time will tell...

one thing is for certain, iDemonax will be re-designing his house when the time comes...

I dont think they have got everyone over a barrel: the big TV makers are already integrating TV's with the many media sources available, so they connect increasingly seamlessly to the internet, while others are making media storage (and access devices) to provide this for TV's that are not so equipped. Our 40 inch TV is basically a giant monitor.

i wasn't refering to just internet connectivity...just imagine all devices connected together and accessible in diferent rooms with voice command activation...you don't need to hold the ipad to use the ipad...it could be accessible on the TV...just by a simple command...i am sure they got something plan...this is where they are headed...
