According to senior EU officials, Nicosia’s coffers will run dry sometime in the next three or four weeks

“They have been procrastinating for months now, and – without even any troika people on the ground – have repeatedly claimed that they are close to achieving results,”

On Wednesday, he (Christofias) told union leaders he would make sure bonuses were paid regardless of where bailout talks stood.

“He is dreaming if he thinks the Christmas bonuses can be paid,” said a senior EU official involved in discussions. “He’ll run out of money before.”

“My family – my wife and two children – use this money for Christmas shopping and other holiday expenses,” said Ilias Petrou, a bank employee. “They can’t cut it. It’s part of our collective wage agreement.”

The moronic ROC "government" honestly believe that the Troika can't allow Cyprus to go broke. They fool themselves into believing that because Cyprus is the centre of the universe and its economy the powerhouse that drives the union its collapse would precipitate economic Armageddon in the EU.

If the commie idiots want to gamble they should go north instead of playing silly buggers with the lives of ordinary Cypriots. Better still, take a course in basic economics.

disaster of 1974 proportions is about to befall cyprus. and this one may well be worse, as in 1974 the island had the sympathy of the world.

Q: So how did Cyprus go from being a proud wealthy country (sometimes even attaining surpluses) and having one of the world’s strongest and most stable currencies, to joining Europe’s vagabond club in the space of just 5 years?

A: We appointed Greece as our advisor!

And then some idiots in here wonder why I loathe Greeks when they’ve destroyed us so many times over and despite all these calamities some of them want to be “Greek”!

Well go ahead idiot and feed off your own children’s flesh to survive because the essence of being “Greek” (which you’ve obviously missed) is all about being a fucking loser and you fit that description PERFECTLY!

on the topic
http://www.parikia.co.uk/daily-news/cyprus-news/cyprus-news-in-english/35993-our-view-replacing-orphaniraldes-with-a-novice-governor-could-be-disastrous.html an old news item which points out that Government consitently rubbished the head of the Central Bank. They then replaced him with a someone widely thought to be an Toffee Arse poddle: seems not so as while Toffee arse is dillying and dallying Demetriades is calling for signing up asap.
