There is no evidence at all any WMD have been despatched to Cyprus, in the Express Item that you posted. All they have sent is personnel trained to deal with any attack that may be launched by others using such weapons against British Troops.
Indeed Britain apparently has had no chemical or biological weapons since 1956, let to deploy to Cyprus, when apparently the then Conservative Government denounced the use of and ordered the destruction of chemical and biological weapons. Further In 1975 the then labour Government signed the Biological weapomns Convention and in 1996 Britain ratified the Chemical Weapons convention.
These Chemical and biological WMD are just as imaginary in the mind of "g"IG as they were in the minds of Bush and Blair before starting the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
However where it is known that Protaganists in a nearby conflict possess chemical weapons (and Syria is not a party to the convention, nor are the rebels) and they are known to have been used by at least one of the parties it is prudent to employ people to assist in dealing with these weapons if they deployed against one...
