Removal of the Russian "$100 Ransomware" boot sector virus

Removal of the Russian "$100 Ransomware" boot sector virus (Trojan-Ransom.Boot.Mbro.d)

Due to the lack of information this message is to echo that the Russian virus (that has recently devastated Cyprus' Russian community) that hijacks computers prior to Windows booting asking for money etc, can be (surprisingly) easily removed with Kaspersky's latest TDSS Killer (kaspersky calls this "Trojan-Ransom.Boot.Mbro.d") which you can download from here...

http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208280684

Needless to say that the infected hard disk has to be connected as a secondary drive to healthy computer in order to scan it.

Contrary to scaremongering rumors it does not create a hidden partition and it’s not as clever as some people claim it to be but interestingly, it takes a Russian to kill a Russian! :)

Regards, GR.
