Gas prospect companies asked to revise their bids

Postby wyoming cowboy » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:36 am

Are the hydrocarbon finds of Cyprus becoming too politicized?

"...But questions are being asked after it emerged that the government altered the order of ranking of the bids for Block 9, eventually picking the TOTAL-NOVATEC consortium despite it being ranked fourth or fifth..."

...and now Cyprus will be embroiled in more interests having their finger in running the country. Why would Akel announce these allotments just before the elections..? knowing full well they won't be reelected.

its a bad sign to turn the hydrocarbons into a political thing.....the special interests(foreign and domestic) will multiply, turning Cyprus's politics into a worse basket case then it already is...the hydrocarbons issue should be handed over to a special committee and not mentioned in the political arena...i think

It sounds sensible to me. It's a French company which is a huge supplier to the UK. Already one of the Brit Gas main men has been on the news scaremongering that the UK needs to "keep the lights on" by forking out more and more money to buy Gas from abroad. The RoC is keeping everyone who matters happy. What's wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with that except that all decisions should be apolitical and not tied to paying pAst debts instead making sure future generations benefit
