and of course how can a company can come fourth in the bidding and still win a contract. well it aint a banana republic for nofink is it/

I think the answer is in the amount of blocks that were awarded. The Republic of Cyprus awarded 4 blocks in total. One block to 1st place, one to 2nd place, one to 3rd place and one to 4th place.

If there were 5 blocks on offer, a company could come 5th and still win a contract.

Oh right, here's a source... have a look at the bottom of this article which refers to 200 Million USD total as signature payments... which become payable when contracts are signed this coming spring.

http://www.2b1stconsulting.com/cyprus-a ... gas-field/

The article says...

..."These exploration agreements are based on production sharing contracts (PSC) for which a bonus payment must be paid at the signature.
These bonuses may represent more than $200 million revenues for the Cyprus Government on the top of which it will receive 70% after recoverable expenses from the production sharing contracts."...

... as well... there's the ref to the 70% of profits going to the Republic. Excellent deal, best have ever come across.

Now to find the info for for access to the seismic data. Wasn't a huge amount for each company... from memory in the region of 2-3 Million USD for each company for each block they bid for.... so there were a total of 15 bids... times 2-3 Million... = 30 to 45 Million USD.

... well, then there is the purchase of the seismic data, which to be honest is a pain to understand, but there were compulsory minimum purchases of 2000 line kms which would have cost 700-800,000 USD ... but here, you figure it out mate....(need a fag)...

And this:

.....One of the ways the Republic of Cyprus will be able to raise funds from the second exploration round, in the short term, is through “signature bonuses.” In order to entice Governments, companies usually offer to hand over cashinreturn to a concession. This tactic also serves as an indication of the promising nature of offshore acreage. Unverified sources in the press claimed that some companies promised a signature bonus as much as €120 m if Cyprus were to award them a specific block. Careful and balanced decisions are vitally important emphasizing also prospects for collaborations between the consortia and companies.

Nothing to do with you, this could be a decision based on whats best for the interests of national security or it could be because the French and Russians offered the best escorts. Either way, no ones gonna ask the opinion of any TC.

Lordo and VP still believe they have a Veto Vote in the RoC's decision making and that there is partnership, all awhile they sit on stolen GC land in the north.

Thats exactly my point. Had GC's been asked for their opinion regarding that other scarce natural resource (land) the TC's have been exploiting freely then the Govt of Cyprus might have shown to be more inclusive in its dealings with this natural resource.
