Well, an electronics engineer wouldn’t spend too much time wondering about the exact reason this is happening but would quickly connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if the video output is ok.
If the video output to the monitor is perfect but the LCD panel’s is not then…
1. Replace the LCD cable with connector.
2. Replace the LCD panel altogether.
If not then…
3. Reheat the joints in the area of the video chipset on the motherboard (with a heat gun)
4. Replace a relevant daughter board if it exists.
5. Replace the motherboard itself.
Of course he's got the advantage of a workshop with parts and everything.
