... sadly, do not mix well together.
Condolences to the friends and relatives of the unfortunate 19 year old.

All troops abroad should go back to their homelands! There is no earthly reason for these British troops being in Cyprus and mixing with knife-wielding British tourists in alcohol-ridden places. What a nasty cocktail.

Do you include all the UN peace keeping troops in the sweeping statement...?
When the young men met in the club started mocking each other for their local ancestry, which is a common cause of quarrel in Britain.

Precisely because we 'have' the UN, plus our own troops and alliances, we surely do not need the British troops in Cyprus for any useful purpose (to Cyprus). The British troops are not here for defence, or the good of Cyprus. Why are they here? They are here by force. Remnants of colonialism and enslavement.
In contrast, the UN are made up of people from over 100 countries and should be used for defensive reasons not attack and invasion of other countries (as are the British troops in Cyprus and elsewhere). Although the UN forces could use further refinement and improvements in their methods, on the whole they do not attract the type of behaviour the British troops abroad do (even it seems, unfortunately, from their own people).

Exactly the response I expected from you...
Your bigotry and spite blind you to anything other than Cyprus and Greece...
My point was that UN troops are deployed world-wide but your sweeping statement insisted that "All troops abroad should go back to their homelands!"...
You should think before you type...

Are you suggesting that the British troops in Cyprus are equivalent to the UN's presence? What is "abroad" for the United Nations? Just like you cannot cope with having a United Europe, you seem unable to appreciate the United Nations' forces. Back to 'divide and rule'!
Yeah, it would be great not to have need of the UN's presence; but until Turkish and British troops go back to their homelands, we have to have some policing against their presence.
