All troops abroad should go back to their homelands! There is no earthly reason for these British troops being in Cyprus and mixing with knife-wielding British tourists in alcohol-ridden places. What a nasty cocktail.

Your history is not up to much is it? Until the GCs forced the Turks to invade in 74 British military personel were welcomed as they and their families provided the bulk of the economy in Limassol Dhekalia and the surrounding districts including Troodos and Nicosia.
And just remember who stopped the Turks advance in eastern Cyprus during their 74 invasion, it wasn't Get Real and his cowardly GC pals.

No place to Greek Troops as well......Cyprus is the place for Turkish Cypriots, GC's and other Cypriots .... no need any troops from motherlands.....or from others.... Didn't get enough lessons from the past !

Halil - Cyprus is in the EU. Greek, French etc troops regularly hold joint maneuvers with the RoC. We are united. The enemy presence is Turkey.

agree with you 100%

For a start, Britain would never have brought in Turkey in the 1950s to sow discord and cause division. But most TCs were willing to live under the RoC and if they still are, then they know they can return and help overthrow the Turks. If they don't, then they do not really have a future in Cyprus and should go back to Turkey with the settlers. Same goes for those over-britishised "GCs" who think Cyprus is some newly-founded colonial country without a history.

Cyprus has a very long and distinguished history (including probably two, possibly three invasion and conquest events by Greeks, and a likely 4th attempt if one counts the Greek backed coup) ) but very distinct to that of what is the Modern Greek state, of which Cyprus has never been and in my view never should be a part.

The so called Greek Cypriots are descended from Arabs not Greeks.
Just because they took up names like Popaplopalot and Aristofartloo doesn't make them Greek.

A chaep and nasty (and incorrect) insult which says a lot about you. The Cypriots are as Arab as you are. Inded I recall you claim to be a Southern Cypriot. The majority of Cypriots (whether Greek Speaking or Turkish speaking) can probably trace the majority of their ancestry back to the earliest permanent settlers of Cyprus, who also made up (and whose descendants still probably make up the majority of) the indigenous populations of Greece and Turkey, making the Cypriots cousins to the Greek and Turks. They in turn probably came out of the Northern Levant / Fertile Crescent rather than Arabia.
