That's how many blocks Cyprus has licensed out to major oil companies to drill for for Natural Gas deposits in the last 4 months!

The European Commission in its draft progress report on Turkey notes Ankara’s refusal to fulfill its obligations towards Cyprus, its threats as regards Cyprus’ right to exploit its hydrocarbon reserves, as well as its refusal to recognize Cyprus and the Cyprus EU Presidency.

As regards Turkey’s reaction to Cyprus’ announcement that it would launch a second round of off shore exploratory licenses, the Commission notes that Turkey and representatives of the Turkish Cypriot community signed a “continental shelf delimitation agreement”, while Turkish company TPAO supported on shore exploratory drilling activities in an area near Famagusta.
The Commission says that Turkey continued to issue statements objecting to drilling operations carried out by the Republic of Cyprus and threatening retaliation against oil companies that would participate in Cypriot exploration.
