You are confused. It was Turkey which was panicked about the Republic's taking over the EU Presidency. It was Turkey which behaved as if the ROC's assuming the Presidency would bring about the end of the world. And what has happened? The ROC has just got on with the task like any other EU member state.

The consensus is that the ROC has been doing an excellent job so far. The Presidency has bestowed on the ROC both legitimacy and prestige - which is what Turkey fought so hard to prevent. In that sense, the EU Presidency of the ROC has been a great success for Cyprus and a diplomatic and strategic mess for Turkey.

Its made not difference whatsoever only highlighting that Turkey does not recognize the "RoC" in its current shape regering to it as the GC administered south Cyprus.

The EU Presidency of Cyprus has enhanced the legitimacy and diplomatic prestige of the ROC within the EU and its institutions. That is why Turkey was so opposed to Cyprus assuming the EU Presidency. In that sense, the EU Presidency of Cyprus has been a major setback to Turkey and its attempts to isolate the Republic within the EU.
