I'm going for Android - but then I don't own any Apple products....

You can get some very powerful 9.7" tablets with the IPS display for ~£150.

Given the cheapest iPad is twice that it looks like a bargain...

For myself I got an Android tablet. For my parents I got iPads (1st and 3rd Gen). I just hate the Apple policies of trying to control everything. Also I think that Android is better than iOS as a mobile Operating System for people who know what they are doing ... for novices iOS is easier. Where iPad wins is the quality of apps... Android has as many Apps as iOS but most of them are designed for phones, not tablets. I also like Airplay on iPads and their build quality. I think that now Google released its Nexus tablets that Android tablets will get more popular and more app support (it already started happening) So the trend I see is that gradually Android and maybe Windows Tablets will take a big share of the tablet market from Apple!

Where? Last time I checked most cheap tablets had low resolution displays and were much less powerful. The best low cost Android tablets are the nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle, but only the 7" versions are anywhere near that price... and those tablets are not sold directly to Cyprus :( Of course there are always the chinese no-name tablets from sites such as http://www.aliexpress.com/ ... but I don't know what the build quality of those will be.

Something like this...?

There are loads of the available...

Momo Speedperhaps...?

Choose one with plenty of reviews on Amazon and you'll have a really good feel for the quality of it...

And remember, most of the tablets/components are made in China anyway - no matter what the badge on the front says...

Those cheap ones at Amazon got better since the last time I checked. Do you own such tablet? I know that they are all made in China ... even iPads are made in China, but I usually prefer to buy a known brand because I feel that this way I am certain that I know exactly what I am getting. With those no-brand ones I can't even trust their descriptions ... for example the Momo Product Description says " 9.7 inch IPSscreen, 16:9, Resolution: 1024*768" ... 1024*768 is a 4:3, not 16:9. I am having trouble to trust a company that can't even write the features of their product properly...

I don't own one yet (I used to have a 7" tablet) but I'm going to buy one before returning to the UK in December...

Something likethis one perhaps...

Specs are really good for the price ... Only the battery seems to be not very good. If you buy it or another such tablet let us know how it works! What was your 7" one?

If you two are going to be discussing lengths, then get a room :)

Tablets are only good for farting around with, no serious work can be done from them. They are easy internet/email/games devices.
