There will always be a few people like you, Sotos, who want to build their own systems. But to be honest, you are not the kind of customer Apple is after and you are too few to make any difference. Most people want a compter to work out of the box, to be easy to use and for them not to worry about what's under the hood. This is most people these days.

You also should know that you can't compare hardware across operating systems, it doesn't work that way. You have to thoroughly test the configurations you are looking at and see which performs better with the software you will be using. At work we did extensive tests before upgrading. And in creative suites Macs consistently performed better with lower specced hardware, and they also performed much faster. So we got Macs.

Bill, were you also using this state of the art cell phone when you purchased the Ford?

Nonsense, grumpy. It means two year old iPads are holding their value really well. You can't say the same for a crappy Android tablet which will be worth nothing the moment you open the box.

I can buy a new Pipo for ££80 less than a second-hand iPad 2 yet get the same screen, a faster processor, more memory, better resolution cameras and more storage...

Yes, grumpy. And most people will still prefer an iPad 2 to a Pipo because it won't look like a plastic turd, won't have a crappy UI, and can run Apps from the Apple appstore and not crappy GooglePlay.

Give it up mate… you just can’t beat the Pipo! 8)

They even throw in a peep-o-bag to carry it!

Sure there are cheap tablets out there, as there are skodas, but when you need a class product that can retain its resale value, Apple is it.

Exactly, B25. The resale value of Apple products is often overlooked. Also the customer service and reliability is second-to-none. Apple stands by their products like no other company. On the resale front here is an interesting link:

Resale market for Apple iPads is booming

The life span of an iPad is significantly longer than Apple's biannual upgrades might suggest. The high-end device doesn't have a plastic case or flimsy screen found in some competing tablets, Scarsella said. iPads can be passed down over three or four years and to as many owners before ending up in the landfill.

"Everybody wants Apple products," Scarsella said. "Apple products just hold their demand really well."

Most people (over 90%) use windows. Less than 8% use Macs. These are the hard facts ;) And most of those who buy windows PCs buy them ready to use out of the box... they still get more power for their money. When it comes to smart phones Android is already ahead of the iPhone, and the same will happen with tablets soon. So I think you are wrong about what most people want.
