Boom boy, mate. Nobody gives a fuck about your Samsung S2 and what it can and can't do. Nobody wants one. Nobody even knows what the fuck it is. You hang around a bar and show it to a girl to impress her, she'll just think you're a weirdo. You might as well take out your dick. It'll get the same response. So please. Just keep it to yourself, mate.

Here we go again... benchmarks and features busted - now it is all about looking cool again!

I can just see iDemonax strutting down the street, iPad held out for the world to see in one hand and iPhone in the other...

(overdraft statement hidden in back pocket)

this tpoic now appears to be going round in Circles and generating more heat than light: we all know Apple are slick operators who make nice but expensive products asnd we also know there is diverse opposition, particularly from the Android market where the slightly less slick presenation and performance is evidently sufficiently offset by lower price.

You're right, we have been round and round this...

I'd post my review of the new tablet if I could get it off Mrs. Cyprusgrump....

A quick review…

Okay, I’ve had the tablet a week now and am extremely pleased with it.

I paid £159.99 from here. They charged me £11.99 to ship to Cyprus by FEDEX and it arrived in three days. I’m told this was a bit of a cock up at their end and the shipping cost should have been £30. Perhaps a point to negotiate on.

I also bought a Neoprene sleeve case (£1.88) and a HDMI Mini cable (£5.99). All shipped at the same time and well packed.

The device comes with a Chinese charger and local adapter. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it clear that we use the UK system over here so it was shipped with a ‘Continental’ 2-pin adapter. Luckily I had a multi-adapter in the house so it was no problem.

One thing of note is that the device is powered by two 3.7V (I think) batteries and the charger is 12V @ 2A. You cannot charge this device via USB.

Separately, I have bought a SanDisk MicroSDHC 32GB Memory Card for £13.84 + shipping (£19) although I see the price of this is now £17.49.

The general specification of the tablet is as follows: -

Model Window N101 version 2
Operating System 4.1.1
Display 10.1 inch IPS Capacitive screen
Resolution 1280 x 752 px
CPU Cortex-A9 dual-core 1.6GHz
GPU Mali 400
RAM 1GB DDR3
ROM 32GB
Camera Dual cameras, front & back 2.0Mp

You can get the full spec on the DidoBuy site or elsewhere.

I was asked if I wanted the metal or the plastic back – both are the same price. I chose the plastic as I had heard that WiFi performance was better with it.

So, to the device.

The display is absolutely stunning.

The device is extremely fast and responsive.

The battery seems to last a long time – I haven’t done a definitive test yet but I’m not constantly looking towards the charger – I’d guess at least five hours continual use and all day using it on and off.

The sound is good – it only has a single speaker at the rear of the device but it is loud and clear. In fact it can be a little too loud for people sitting in front of you. Sounds through the 3½” output is absolutely stunning – even when using the cheap (branded) earphones that come with it.

So, so far I have copied a load of movies, music and pictures to the Micro SD card and transferred them to the device. I’ve also connected it to my PC via USB and transferred the same. I can also stream files from my NAS to it…

Everything so far has worked perfectly.

I’ve downloaded a few apps from the store including Firefox which synchronised quite happily with my desktop copy.

I’ve got a cheap (EnGenius) router in the kitchen. I can get a good signal from it throughout the house including the bedrooms upstairs and my office in the basement – which is quite good considering the amount of concrete and rebar between the two.

Overall, I am really happy with it – a great purchase.

Happy to answer any additional questions regarding it.

Some questions for grump. Did it come with any bloatware? Was it setup in English? Are there any apps that you can't download or can't update from Google play... like Google Maps for example, it might be installed on your device but does it show up in Google play when you search for it? Any idea if you will be able to update it with a newer version of Android?
