Also Android is open source while windows is not. If you know how you could download Android source code and change it in any way you want to do anything you want.... much more than what you can do with windows.

I think you’re confused between software and hardware programming. They are two different things… :)

Your gadget will only allow you to programme software within its preset hardware scope but you cannot make it any smarter than what it’s been manufactured to do because its hardware is not expandable and programmable.

OK GR. "Expand" and "program" your 80286 to do what my smartphone can do and then find a way to resize it to make it 100grams, to fit in your pocket and run without wires. When you do that I will agree that smartphones are useless ;)

Oh noes!

Please don't tell me that my new tablet won't be able to run in CGA or VGA mode... or connect to an IDE drive... or an RS-232 device or a parallel printer or accept SIMMs - that would be like sooo limiting!

Next year you will have to toss your “smartphone” (read annual preset box) out the window and buy the next preset version because it is not ADAPTABLE to change like the 80286 processor which you undermine!

But those who had the 80286 didn’t care when technology moved from ISA to EISA because the 80286 could be instructed to handle that too when it came out!

That's the power of fully programmable processors...

You'll have to enquire if the Pipo can handle CGA before you buy it...

I call bullshit!

How many people prised the 80286 out of their old PC and re-installed it in their shiny new EISA box?

Nobody - because the new box had an 80386 and the 80286 was too weedy to run the software on it...

Don't forget the separate math co-processor you had to buy for it if you were doing anything complex!

Talking of math co-processors that used to sell for a fortune, I have just skipped about 20x 80387, on the basis they were obsolete technology that no one wanted.

GR, Mate do as your name states GET REAL will ya!

You're not wrong Grumpy... I paid $220 to add a co-processor to my 386-SX at one time...
