How very true - Personally I dont look at what particular tablet or smart phone someone strolling round the neighbourhood using and assess how cool such a person is and anyone who buys a tool simply because it looks cool or because they like the company business model (which in reality is is to make as much money as is possible from the customers) needs their head read. The principal behind buying anything should be does it most effectively do the job one wants at the maximum price one is prepared to pay:
Grump is plainly happy with his device - end of debate.

Just wondered why you are slating Appe so much. Or have you now turned micosoft? Just wondered like.

yes B25 i make one helluva lot of accessories for the ipad/iphone, also i make one helluva lot accessories for the galaxy tablet and mobile phone...

needless to say where the most margin is made... ...just love fanboys, the more they resist the more i like...or you think only apple is allowed to double and triple charge?...

i am not slating anybody, just telling how it is...my galaxy S2 runs hoops anything an ipad or an iphone have to offer...for under half the price...simple as that...

my galaxy S2 costs me AUS$34 per month for a 2 year contract, and for that i get a brand new S2, AUS$450 calls per month and what ever i do not use gets added to next month and 250MB of data which
i rarely use...i prefer wifi...and with this phone i run hoops around the ipad/iphone...

what i was syaing is the this market, the mobile market will evebtually belong to microsift and intel...no doubt about it...coes january the ipd and a couple of macbooks will be well and trully buried...apple is feeling the pinch as we speak...look at their shares...no way they will reach over US$700 again...the only road for them is downhill...
more than 80% of the population is using an intel based machine running MS...microsoft's and intel's only growth will come from the mobile market...they will add to their 80% PC plus market share the tablet and phone...

January is around the corner...you really a real moron if you choose an ipad over the surface running intel i5 CPU with the ivy bridge chipset, read a real computer, running win 8 pro, read read operating system, same as your desktop...and all this in the form of a tablet....and best of all the price will be between $800 to $900...

the iphone 5 was a fizzer...they are now releasing the iphone 5S... ...oh yeah great operating system, but what happened to maps?...

and do not ake any mistake about it...the wintel consortium is the darling of the US spy agencies...the US spy agencies would love nothing better for wintel to rule the roost across all platforms...think about it...

Well I hope it's better than the Surface RT which was neither a good tablet nor a good netbook and nobody has bought.

what you failed to understand is microsoft today exclusively owns and controls more than 80% the server market, the operating system, the applications, a gaming platform and shelled out heaps of bucks for skype, read computer telephony...and you are sitting there telling us microsoft is in a real dilemma?...

Microsoft is having to manufacture its own computer because its profitability from Windows is under long-term threat. It can't rely on profits selling expensive software on cheap computers. The shift is towards the tablet market which doesn't support Microsoft's model. That's why Apple is making huge profits. Last quarter, Microsoft brought in $20.89 billion in revenue. Apple brought in $46.33 billion. Put another way: Apple’s iPhone business alone is larger than all of Microsoft’s businesses combined. :o

my rooted samsung galaxy S2 runs hoops around any tablet ipad can dish out, with connectivity and flexibility, something incoherent to an apple user...

You mean you plug things into your mobile phone? Who the hell plugs things into a phone. Don't you know about wi-fi? Bluetooth? The Cloud? You are such a tech dinosaur. You need to move on, mate.

your point 1...have you got figures to back what you are saying?...

your point 2...have you got a link to back you up?...or you think the apple model of selling expensive hardware with next to useless software is better...as i said the surface running the intel i5 cpu with the ivy bridge chipset running windows 8 pro version like a real computer will take care of apple once and for all...especially when pricing will be similar...

point3...let me monotask this one for you...when i say i run hoops around the ipad and the iphone, i mean i do all that you suggested and plus much more...now you get it, you wanna be techie...

and thank god for apple for bringing cloud to an already clouded mind...i have been using rapidshare since early 2000...for file storage and sharing...

From the horse's mouth:

Surface RT tablet sales ‘modest,’ says Microsoft CEO

And from Digitimes:

Microsoft’s Surface RT tablet may see sales of only 60% of the company’s forecast by the end of 2012 and the device is also expected to have difficulty achieving a good performance during the year-end holidays, according to sources from upstream component suppliers.

The sources pointed out that Surface RT, as well as Asustek Computer’s Windows RT-based tablets, do not have an advantage in terms of a price/performance ratio, while Windows RT’s lack of supporting software from the previous Windows system and can only use software downloaded from the Windows Store has greatly reduced the attraction to consumers...

http://www.geardiary.com/2012/11/13/mic ... o-reports/

or you think the apple model of selling expensive hardware with next to useless software is better.

Congratulations, Boomerang. This is actually the most stupid thing I have read on this thread so far.

You pay more for an iPad 4 because it is not just better designed, has a better screen, is easy to use etc. But also because it outperforms the current competition. Even the last generation iPad, the iPad 3, performs much better than recent Android offerings. The difference in performance is significant and that is down to a combination of better hardware and optimised software. If better performance is a criteria in choosing a tablet, then you get what you pay for with Apple tablets.

Here's a nice review of the iPad Mini which makes a case for why it's the best tablet on the market:

The iPad Mini is proof positive why technical specs don’t matter anymore. It’s slower than both the third and fourth-generation iPads, and it features a significantly lower resolution screen that doesn’t even meet HD video standards.
And yet, its miniscule size and overall convenience makes it the best iPad I’ve ever used and the best tablet on the market...

iPad Mini: All big tablets, please go home

Hahahahahaha!

I didn't respond to your earlier posts because you have proved yourself to be completely unable to make a coherent argument for Apple products...

First it is all about the OS and apps...
Then it is all about resale value and the thriving second-hand market...
Then it is about looking cool...

Then you find a benchmark that shows the iPad 4 has the fastest GPU on the market so you promote that as being the most important thing...

NOW you come up with a quote that says technical specs don't matter and the slowest tablet is best - because it is an Apple of course!

You do give us all a good laugh fanboy!

Keep posting, I'm loving it! :D

Grumpy, let me try and explain so that even you can understand. General consensus is that the the iPad 4 is the cream of the crop of larger tablets. It has the lot: great design, top screen and the best performance. You get what you pay for - plus the benefit of great resale value for when you want to upgrade.

But for those who prefer a smaller form factor, the iPad Mini still gives you a solid build quality and performance, great software and quality apps, and has the advantage of being lighter and more portable. So as the reviewer states: ‘instead of a sharp Retina screen and powerful hardware, you’re getting a slimmer device that’s far more convenient. For me, the tradeoffs are worth it‘.

Because of its size and convenience. many people are making the case for the iPad Mini being the best iPad and therefore the best tablet on the market.

In other words, Apple offers you the best choice of tablets. The choice is whether you want the great performance and amazing screen of the iPad 4. Or the size and convenience of the iPad Mini. The choice is down to you.

Now that wasn't so hard to understand, was it?
