As I said earlier, these dogs have been kept in cages in the middle of a field all summer and are expected to perform like pure bred (and trained) hunting dogs when they are taken out at the end of October... those that don't are rejected. I've known people that have spent €€€€€€€€s on dogs that are supposedly good hunters - only to find they are gun shy. I know a group of guys that all decided to get new dogs for the season so simply took the old dogs up Troodos and let them go.
Another problem with dumped dogs (those that are not rescued) is that they attack sheep and goats. My
theory is that farmers put down poisoned meat to kill the animals and it is that meat that kills the family pets when we are out walking them.
