It is even ''forbidden'' :o to take hunting dogs out the week before.
Since we have bin living a bit in the middle of nowhere ( 14 months), 2 hunting dogs were dumped in our road!
We have 5 now, both times I watched the car, shooing the dog out and making off quickly.

Good for you...

We've probably rescued/re-homed more than twenty since we've lived here - including a crate of puppies that was dumped in the middle of the road and had to be fed with syringes...

What you mean "dumped in your street" ??? :?

I've never seen any dogs dumped in anyone's street and I've been here longer than you!

Really?

then you must walk around with your eyes closed...

Or you are in fact GIG posing as GR!

This is the time of year when the 'hunting dogs' are brought out of the cages that they've been locked in all summer. Many that are gun shy or fail miserably to perform their 'gun dog' duties are replaced with new dogs.

You must surely have your eyes open when driving and see the carnage on the motorway...?

Yeah, as if the dog would stay put in your street wearing a sign that reads…

I’ve been dumped!

problem round here is dogs dumping in the Street....levity aside the mayor was telling me it is big problem in parts of our village as we are on the outskirts of town and many poeople dump thir dogs in the area after the season, on the way home, and the dogs then run wild causing havoc with the bins etc, but I am a bit surprised to find dogs dumped at the strat of the season.

As I said earlier, these dogs have been kept in cages in the middle of a field all summer and are expected to perform like pure bred (and trained) hunting dogs when they are taken out at the end of October... those that don't are rejected. I've known people that have spent €€€€€€€€s on dogs that are supposedly good hunters - only to find they are gun shy. I know a group of guys that all decided to get new dogs for the season so simply took the old dogs up Troodos and let them go.

Another problem with dumped dogs (those that are not rescued) is that they attack sheep and goats. My theory is that farmers put down poisoned meat to kill the animals and it is that meat that kills the family pets when we are out walking them.

Imagine a dog that has been dumped with no food, water or shelter...

Do you think it would: -

a) See it as an adventure and set out on its travels to see the world that was previously unavailable to it.
b) Stay in an area where there are people that might feed it and bins full of food scraps?

Yup - no hunting around our way today, so definitely next sunday. Several dogs already dumped in our area by brain dead morons, as per usual.

Too many hunters per population.
Sheep mentality needs to be altered.
